LOL @Jim Dunleavy - nah - I beat you to the mark, but then again so did Ferenc @Ferenc Simon ( and possibly others ! )....   But, you have done better than me - only got vln 1 out - if I'm not struggling with pain in my back, I'll do a few takes of another part, possibly viola, tomorrow... we'll see !

Well done Jim !  drummerdrummerdrummer

I have sometime today...just barely.... and then tomorrow to try to record and send...if not then Monday after work. I am really barely squeezing this one in.  :)

Can't wait to see this...and it is one of my favorite songs.  It was adapted from a poem, I believe sometime around 1847.

Cheers Musicians.

But imo we still really need that 6th part that has been taken out to make everything sound nice and less boring :) (song is slow so it needs some arpeggio accompaniment)

I really hope Fiddlerman has a plan for that as well and either he'll do it on some electric violin or let Andrew do it on the viola (since he volunteered a few pages back)

Trying to play Violin 2 and 3 to no avail. It doesn't sound right to me because I keep hearing Violin 1 in my head. I will at least submit a video for Violin 1. Has anyone shared how Violin 2 and 3 should sound?

@Fiddlerman  , OK I finally accomplished Part 1 on Viola. I admit I played more during my taping sessions than I have all year. (i.e. the dyiing rabbit you hear will be me). I sent via Google Drive. I have new hardware and really not sure how to get the mp4 from my phone to the PC. I am pleased how I have managed to change positions with this tune.

I am now working on part 3, but get lost after measure 4... wish me luck

I'm out, unfortunately. Have been sick all weekend, not sure I can make it through the length of the song without coughing.

I was hoping to submit a video for all violin parts but, sadly, I struggled quite a bit with the bowing and my work schedule took away what could have been more practice time drooling

Reviewing the Violin 1 videos I shot to see if anything is worth submitting.

My neighbors probably want to strangle me for all the noise I've been making.  But hey, "no pain, no gain" right? Except, they feel the pain and I get the gain (I'm really sorry, neighbors :-S)

Here's my efforts at Vn2 and 3 - they're a bit wobbly in places but I'm pretty confident the timing is right. Hope they help.

Hello everyone, I submitted my video of violin part 1 this morning.  It is pretty rough, but I had a great time working on it.  Maybe it will make the cut.  I'm too rusty to try a second part.   Anyway, Merry Christmas to all the members and I can't wait to see the finished product.

@brokenbow a.k.a. Landon - AWESOME !

Pierre @Fiddlerman will have to do the usual, lock himself away in a darkened room for like 36 hours, with only the light from his computer to mix it all down, being fed from time to time by the occasional pie, bun, and coffee being passed through a cat-flap into his studio......

Trust me on this - unless your playing was so completely out of time with the click track ( like you finished 10 seconds early or late !  - I'm KIDDING ) it will be fine.  Honestly....  None of us are anywhere near "perfect"...

Well done !  Great to have so many new contributors take part, Thank You ! hats_off

@Jols - submit the "best" take you have....  time is slipping away... truly - trust Pierre on this - we ALL make mistakes and fluff some notes - but we all do that in different places - once all mixed down - each individual's performance becomes but one small fraction of the overall sound...    Please do not hold back on submitting it - as I say - time is running out...  :)

Trust me - it will all be good.... drummerdrummerdrummer

I just made my last note real real long, like 6 whole notes long. BUT I finished at the same time. Does that count?

Oh boy, just sprended a file had some technical issues and work calling issues that messed  me up today getting thing together like I was planning on doing.

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, and the bowing and timing on this arrangement was just different enough from the one I'm working on with a piano player it gave me fits not nearly a clean as I wanted it, boy the camera can take a toll on your composure.

Great stuff everyone! This is going to be a good one. :)

I've got my best outtake on youtube; some people on FB have already seen it, but for the others - enjoy! [Nearly forgot - DON'T WATCH IF YOU DON'T LIKE BAD LANGUAGE!]

Toni - I dare you to post yours. https://fiddlerman.com/wp-content/forum-smileys/blink1.gif
