Hey Everybody!

Just wanted to share this event!  I'll be performing here on fiddle for the very first time!  There will be other musicians there playing period music throughout the park as well.

So, if you're in the Chicagoland area and are looking for something to do over the weekend, or are just interested in seeing me embarrass myself, come on out!  It should be fun!

LOL, I will be in uniform, but I'll be in a thin, homespun shirt.  I don't have to wear my shell jacket outside of battle!

It shouldn't be too bad this weekend!  Now for the August events..........facepalmdazeddrooling

Oh yes, the "Walmartification" of an area! LOL  We have a lot of members that live in those parts.  I'm only one of 3 that actually live in Indiana.  A little bit of a drive to participate in these events, but worth it when you're doing something you love!

Eric, I assume you dress in blue. I definately thought my blue shell jacket was much cooler that my gray one. Come to thing of it I think the gray one os lined. Hope you have a ball. Oh! will there be a Ball in the evening? We used to do that just so the girls could show off their beautiful preiod dresses.flag_usa

Actually, I'll be in gray!  Our artillery unit does both impressions, but since there is a major shortage in the area, we primarily go confederate.

And yes, there will be a ball Saturday evening! hats_off The women get a chance to show off these huge ball gowns with hoop skirts and ruffles!  When they dance, the hoop skirts act like fans which is great if it's the middle of the summer!

Eventually, if we find more musicians (hint hint), we want to hold a "Battery Bash" after the ball.  The balls used to go until midnight, but for some reason, they end at 7 now!  Now where's the fun in that?  With our battery bash, we can go on until midnight playing some more upbeat songs that you can tap your foot to! dancing

Yeah! the unit I used to be in used to dress in what ever color was needed ( gets expensive). I think I kind of know why the Ball does not go untill 12:00 now. A lot of us are getting old. Again have fun.bananadancingbanana

Ha Ha!  I did notice a growing number of reenactors going "motel militia!"  At a certain age, who wants to sleep in a pup tent or in the dirt? LOL

I did have 2 last minute requests which are driving me nuts!  I was asked to play "Rose of Alabamy" and "Granny, Does Your Dog Bite?"  Rose shouldn't be too hard, I've already figured out half without the music, but the other one.......wow!  I need to find a slower version to listen to! LOL  That's a TALL order!  facepalm
