My oh my….. there seems to be much controversy on bow maintenance and cleaning bow hair. One article states that no type of cleaning should be performed on bow hair, the other article says you can use, surgical spirit, which is nothing more than, "Isopropyl / rubbing alcohol", without damaging the hair. That statement is made by the, bow hair suppliers.
Who do you believe. Judge for yourself.
Here's that link.
Surgical spirit is not rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol has other chemicals in it to make it posionous. 200 proof alcohol is pure alcohol. I don't bother cleaning the hair. I like when it gets all black at the frog and the tip. But to each his or her own.
Just a little update about Fiddlershop.com
FiddlerShop is doing very well and therefore has dropped the flat rate shipping $2 to give you more incentive to buy from us when the competition is fierce. Shipping is still free for purchases over $100

OfflineNow that's good news
Will there be pictures/specs for your new equip line or is it necessary to already know some particular item and then make inquiries to FiddlerShop ?
Maybe I'm asking if your on-line catalog will become larger as you take on new ventures ?

OfflineFiddlershop.com has added a "Weekly Special" button where we'll be running a special every week worth checking out from time to time. This week it is the CVN-500
The CVN-500 is a product in which the price is regulated by what we call, "MAP" pricing. MAP = Minimum Advertised Price
Even though there are companies that break the rules they run the risk of loosing their distribution rights for that company by doing so. We set our prices at MAP pricing when they exist, as low as we can, but can offer incentives to buy with us as we do this week with the CVN-500.
Who knows what will be on special next week.
Thanks![]()
OfflineHey?? I just realized something about the shop! There are no music stands!! ……lol, actually I just broke my collapsible stand and thought about it!
It might be a nice addition to the "Accessories" area. I sure others are like me and don't think about it until it's needed! LOL
OfflineFunny you should say that. I actually do have stands.
http://fiddlershop.com/accesso…..ies/stands
I need to come up with a way to make things more visible.
you could take a picture of someone playing or practicing the violin, in that picture have things like a pack of strings, rosin, maybe a tuner laying on the table by them and then you have a sholder rest showing, the violiin, and the bow, a music stand, maybe a hanging rack for the violin in the background along with a case, then they're wearing a hat to top it off. If you hover your mouse over those items and click on them it'll take you to that page in fiddlershop for the item. Just make those areas of the picture a popup html, link map to the page(s).
That's one way to cover all the things and it makes it a see and click kinda thing. No menus to go looking thru.
Just an idea.![]()
OfflineYikes! Sorry! I didn't see those in the shop!! I think the rosin dust is starting to get to me! Lol
You could also offer package deals! Like a "Beginner/Starter Pack" or a "Maintenance Pack!" Ya know, a group of items that would commonly go together!
That would also give people ideas on what else they may want or need!
Just a thought!
