@Fiddlerman : Seems you've shorted yourself one "SPECIAL" badge.

      "Booster"  booster.png

If not for you, there would be no, "Fiddlerman.com" with all it's member's.

Thank you for that, sir.  hats_off

Gotcha Dennis. If Fiddle Chick should have a special badge, who will make it for her? :)
@Ken - if I add a badge now, I won't have them all in a nice row like I do now. LOL.

I really appreciate all the kind words! I'm glad you guys like the badges, but a special one for me really isn't necessary at all. I was happy to do them, and it really wasn't a bit of trouble. I do that kind of stuff every day at my job so I pretty much run on auto pilot.

Aloha @Fiddlerman,

I posted a video to the Critique Corner, so I would like to request that badge.  There is also a video badge, but I don't know the difference between the critique and video badges.  I'm working on recording a few more videos, but I have nothing else as of yet.

Done :)

I guess they are kind of the same but let's separate them.

If you post a video at the Critique Corner it counts only for the Critique video.

If you share a video of yourself in a post anywhere else on the forum, that counts for a video badge.

We previously had members sharing videos not wanting to be criticized and therefor created "Critique Corner". Because sharing a video is personal, critique can be taken personally and members can be offended by some of the comments. The Critique Corner was designed to eliminate this problem. :)

Hmmm.... I have posted a video, I don't think it was in the Critique Corner....

And I have played to a live audience several times, a various church things, for orchestra, my show and tell, mostly with other people but I have done a few solos, does that count towards the Live badge?? I don't really mind either way.... :)

Great job on the badges though, they look great! I especially like the look of the Composer badge and Author badge, I think it's the colours. Unfortunately I don't qualify for those.

Thanks again...

Kiara, I think that we are referring to live concerts posted here on the forum or a live concert that will be seen by the forum such as the StreetJelly concert coming up. :) But that is just my interpretation. What do you all think?
I'll add your video badge pronto!

But.. If it has to have a video posted of it, then it's really just another video performance.  One still has to have the gear for it and figure out how to run it while playing, on top of playing live.

And we might want to come up with a separate badge for events smaller than concerts, and define what will qualify as a concert...

Oh, and maybe an "Audio" badge or something of the sort, so we encourage more than strictly video activity.

Or maybe not, just my thoughts on it.  dunno

I didn't know we could broadcast "live" here on the forum.

Please try to explain this concept as I'm confused about a couple of the badge's.

(1) Composer.....

(2) Author.....

(3) Live.....

Maybe there should be an, "honor" badge as well. Seems that anyone can request just about any badge they want.

On my "honor" I'm telling the truth about which badges I deserve.

Badge in question.@Fiddlerman / Pierre, the live performance badge you have, have you  performed live on the forum or on SJ ?

And what about performing live on "Skype" does that count as "live" ?

Do video performances count as "live" ?

Just wondering what constitutes a live performance. If performing live in front of other's (outside the forum) counts as "live" then I think, "Kiara" does deserve the "Live" badge, as do many other's.

Just my opinion.

Aloha @Fiddlerman,

For the DIY badge, you mentioned something more than restringing or adjusting the bridge.  What about installing a new tailpiece?  If that qualifies, I would like to request that badge as well.  I have a thread, with picture for proof :D, that I posted when I swapped out my tailpiece.

IMO, Changing a tailpiece doesn't count. One can easily remove the tailpiece when changing strings. Do it yourself would be the kind of job that is normally not intended for the average person such as carving a bridge, making a new sound-post, new nut, planing the fingerboard, gluing seams, removing a top..... The list goes on.

What I meant with live recordings is that we don't record a video of ourselves in our homes not performing in front of an audience and consider that a live recording. If you record yourself at home you can do it many times, you can edit the video....etc. This kind of recording is good for a video badge. IMO

To get the live performance badge you can record your live performance and post it here. I would consider a performance in front of an audience a live performance and recording it would merit a badge. Also, the live performances recently encouraged by Barry at StreetJelly definitely qualify. No recordings necessary. At first we were going to have the StreetJelly performances alone count for that Performance badge but I figured that many of you have performed concerts or on the streets or what have you, and some of you even have it recorded. I'm completely open for your opinions. I really don't want to be a dictator. :)

Aloha @Fiddlerman,

Thank you for the clarification.  I wasn't sure that simply changing a tailpiece would work, but you don't know until you ask, right?!? laugh

I don't think I'll be ready for StreetJelly anytime soon, but I did see at least CoolPinkOne and KindaScratchy listed.  I'll have to tune in and watch them play.  I'll have to work on the video badge before I even think of the live badge.

BTW, I don't think anyone here considers you a dictator.  We're all just grateful that you gave us this site and are patient with us.  With respect to the group projects, you have to yank the chain from time to time, considering the deadlines, such as 1 December for the Christmas one.  That is to be understood, though.

When I don't know the answer to a question, I don't have any problems asking for clarification, hence my query about the DIY badge.  I appreciate you taking the time to clarify the guidelines on that, as well as the video and live badges.

Actually iBud, it's all in the beginning stages and there are no clear rules as of yet. It was a great question. :)

Aloha again @Fiddlerman,

I have uploaded some original compositions in the Share forum.  If they meet with your approval, I would like to request the Composer badge please.  I know they're not very long (or complicated),but I hope you like them.

To all new members.

You might wonder how we have little badges on our profiles or across the tops of our post.

Here is a thread to explain them.

If you earn a badge, please don't be shy  PM Fiddlerman / Pierre to get your badges.

I hope this helps.  If you have questions feel free to post here.

Cheers and welcome all.   :)

And current members, please don't be shy, if you participate in a party or put up a critique ... jump in and get your badges.

Yes, thanks Toni.

Please let me know if you earned a badge. I'm bad at noticing. I don't want that pressure on me. :)
