If we can do a bass line, it might give the music an extra dimension without detracting from Fiddle and viola

I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....

Hey, FM: can we do hybrid parts? In other words, is it acceptable to do a combo of the sections that we're able to do. For example, if I can do the first half of part 3 and the second half of part 4, is it OK if I jump from one part to the other in one recording?

Or would you prefer that the parts or sections of parts to be separate files?

dunno

Yes Dianne, absolutely you can. It all fits together perfectly that way.

You can even make up a part if you like, just test it with the midi files so that the parts match if you are uncertain.

Great! Right now, unless I have some sort of breakthrough in the next week or so, here's what I'm going to do:

There are six repeating sections. I can play sections of 1-4 of part 3, section 5 of part 4 and section 6 of part 2. (I might even be able to do the double stops in that last section...maybe.)

Ok, i gotta say, i think all of us could add an instrument to this if we wanted to.  for the main project it might be best to stay to FIDDLERMAN'S VISION of just violins and violas.

I plan on adding a post with a band with stand up bass, mando, guitar and violin.  But, for the purpose of the project, my vote is for violins and violas only.  (even though

it was my idea to begin with).

I'm brand-new to this site and to the fiddle (but not to music, been playing that all my life). :) I *love* this idea of pulling people together from all over and making music! I've been fiddling for less than a week but I'm going to attempt Part 5 and see what happens. I have a few more weeks, so why not?? :)

You play the bass?

Let's take it to a vote. I originally wanted to use exclusively fiddles and violas but I love having a base line.

Bass line, by all means.  If you're going to allow a washboard and chickens, then anything goes when the whistle blows!

cool

I've learned so much from my mistakes that I've decided to make some more.

Actually this piece would rock with a bass line. No question about it and everyone seems to agree. Done deal then. Hope you have time to do it.

I've been having so much fun practicing for this project. Part one has really been a challenge for me, particularly the double stops in the last section. I started practicing slowly with the metronome, and I've been gradually speeding it up. I've got it pretty solid at 92 beats per minute. Just ran it through once with the click track and it didn't completely fall apart, lol.

I think I can, I think I can...

We'll see. Maybe I get one of the little ones to play a bit of part four.
