Charm City Junction
- acoustic 'roots' quartet from Baltimore, they have a fresh take on the traditional music genres. Patrick McAvinue (fiddle & mandolin), Brad Kolodner (clawhammer banjo - taught some workshops at the recent Fiddle Hell!), Sean McComiskey (button accordion), Alex Lacquement (dbl bass). I really like that they give Alex some time to shine.
I happened upon their music when searching for a recording of 'Once Upon A Time In Beara' (link is to notation) - so I'll start learning it.
Quite a few other tunes on their albums caught my ear... 'Farewell Tennessee', was one.
There's some great Charm City Junction live videos on YT, plus their albums:
Btw, Brad's father (Ken) plays the fiddle & hammered dulcimer. More about their playing - Brad and Ken Kolodnor.
My rabbit hole also led me to the 'Walking Stones Album Playlist' - Laura Risk (fiddle - taught workshops at the recent Fiddle Hell) and Robin Bullock (guitar, mandolin, cittern) both balance out Ken Kolodnor's playing. 31 very enjoyable tracks!
