New England Fiddles - the whole Folkstream documentary filmed in 1983!
New England Fiddles presents seven of the finest traditional musicians as they play in their homes and at dances and contests, passing their styles to younger fiddlers, and commenting on their music. Featured are Ron West (Yankee), Paddy Cronin (Irish), Ben Guillemette (Quebecois), Wilfred Guillette (Quebecois), Harold Luce (Yankee), Gerry Robichaud (Maritime), and the Cape Breton style of Joe Cormier.
"Maine Musical Compendium" by Paul Wells - book of Fiddle/Violin music from around 1820.
Definitely some GREAT music from the Revolutionary War! Here's one I hadn't heard, but want to learn on the fiddle - "Ballad of The Green Mountain Boys". It's from Vermont, "...lyrics come from the poem “The Song of the Vermonters, 1779” by John Greenleaf Whittier." More great info in the YT video description.
I'll try to connect some links here from elsewhere on the forum - appreciate anything others want to contribute!
