That's a really good deal for a Hardanger Fiddle, they normally cost around 5000-6000$. The fingerboard is a little too much for my taste, but other then that it looks like a really nice piece. I've wanted one of those since I was 5 year old, maybe I will get one some day... Some soundclips of hardanger fiddles;

Those videos are incredible. I see how the other strings work. they are "harmonizers". They seem to just pick up the vibration and resonance of the other (possibly paired) strings.
I bet they are a sliver in your back side to tune and keep tuned.
