I think making this mistake once helps the humor of this one...

and to have watched interstellar.

well..at least those two truths make it humorous.

to me ..

@ABitRusty I don’t think I’ve ever spent enormous amounts of money for a hobby, just to drop it in two weeks. . . pretty sure I would have drawn it out over much more time. smile

I think trying new things out as hobbies is good.  And if you don’t stick with them, it isn’t a waste.  But I think holding on to stuff from your hobby that you’re not using, or from an old hobby that you’re not doing anymore (because you think, maybe, you’ll come back to it . . . someday) that’s not a hobby—it’s hording.

I just had a yard sale back in June – got rid of the things I wasn’t using—very liberating.

Example: I plan to still grow a few tomato & zucchini plants, but I’m not going to grow the enormous garden/quasi-farm I have in the past—so I got rid of a lot of that stuff.  A farm guy got a good deal on some 8 foot metal fencing posts from me—going to be way more useful for him than for me at this point.

Besides, I used some of that money from the yard sale to buy a used violin laugh

Yeah.. i cant say i have either.  and agree with the hoarding point of view.  Its good to cull stuff from time to time.  either by selling or donation.  Other than instruments.. books seem to be my most hoarded item.

I cannot even give my unused or no longer use craft or hobby items away where I live. Go figure! Sewing machine -  still have it, sewing/embroidery machine - still have it, card cutting dies - still have them. Schools did not even want the cardstock I was not going to use because I wanted to try a different brand and mix it up a little. Girl Scouts - nope. Nope, they were not interested and it was good quality. Recycle place liked the cardstock, 😂. I put up a big free sign. Someone did take the sink and faucet set we replaced, I did clean it up really nice. Nothing wrong with it, we just wanted a deeper sink and new faucet, so it was really nice. The lady and guy who took the sink, grabbed the Pfaff sewing machine, but then put it back. Got it to the trunk, then brought it back, Weird, Maybe this Spring, Summer of Fall.

@Mouse  I'm surprised there have been no takers.  I've been seeing more & more classes locally for things like sewing.  Hopefully, not becoming a lost art.

I tried crochet (briefly--not one of the hobbies I hung onto). My mother showed me a style she learned from her aunt to make blankets using a big hook (the blue one); I made a few blankets, but that is all.  I'm not even sure if I remember how to do it now.

And yes, I had a lot of yarn stockpiled--but I donated it when I decided this was not a hobby-fit for me smile

Pics of a one of the blankets I made--too big!  Guess when I was first trying it, I just thought I should keep going smile

The blanket is gorgeous.

My neighbor taught me to crochet when I was in high school. She had western style jacket pattern. We each made one. I wish I still had that pattern, it was really nice. I was their babysitter. They were like a second family for me. Great people.

Sorry, no joke to add to this "Laugh A Day"

Ah, hobbies - some things ARE hard to unload.  Luckily, the grandkids are getting real good at reading/following directions, raring to go... so, as long as no one gets as 'horse-crazy' as I was when I was young, I should be set for keeping them all busy with my old stuff. (lol)

@SharonC -

That looks like a 'Californian King-size' blanket - good job!  ...reminds me of the 1st sweater I knitted for Kevin (he looked bigger in my eyes). 😁

Here's my Christmas laugh for today.
