Hummm, not sure I'm fond of Pixie Pointy Ears as my Elf name.

Oh well could be worse.

🤣 oh yeah, Mark... it could be MUCH worse!

Everyone take a minute to find 'YOUR' Elf name (in post#537)?

For the fiddlers who enjoy playing Irish & Scottish music - if you reside in the USA, ever attended a St. Patrick's Day Party, maybe also the Highland Games (in your State) & have an Irish (or Scottish) surname/maiden name hidden somewhere in your ancestry... you might enjoy this.

Sorry, 'my' vision has everyone holding a fiddle. 😉

Ever notice that most families are musical 'experts' in POLYTONALITY

(especiality large, extended families)?

...watched a replay of my 2nd oldest granddaughter's 11th birthday last week.  Noticed some pretty avant garde harmony exploration as the whole family sang 'Happy Birthday'! 🙄🤭

I mentioned composer/conductor/pianist Nicolas Slonimsky (& one of his books) in the Modal Scale/Keys Thread

Very entertaining interview with Slonimsky on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show (1986).

Fun interview.   Seems like a person to sit and have a good conversation with.

From Adolf Hitler - My Part in his Downfall, by Spike Milligan (occasional jazz trumpeter).

"Our first visit to Eastbourne led us to a pub from which issued forth music...supplied by three elderly gentlemen on a small rostrum. Piano, violin and cello. They made desperate attempts to be 'with it' by playing "In the Mood", "Beat Me Daddy, Eight to the Bar" etc, but one felt that death was nigh. Suddenly in the middle of a tune the violinist got up to collect the empty glasses which he took to the bar.

...

Harry [Edgington, pianist] spotted it. The fiddle player only got down to collect the empties when the tune went into more than three flats. We spent the rest of the evening listening for the key changes; 'this is it, he'll start collecting 'em now,' said Harry gleefully, as the maestro did exactly that."

Love POLKA?

I was looking to play some polkas on the fiddle tonight, when I ran across this... the beginning sets this up, but starts to get fun at 4:42.

...mentioned it elsewhere, but my Dad tried to give me a huge blonde pearl accordion he'd had refurbished (almost blinded me). 😳 I laughed out loud when he said "just try it".  I don't think a back brace would've even helped, swore it weighed more than I did! 🥴

giphy.gif@ABitRusty -

That was hilarious!  Kinda reminds me of Love, Death & Robots (Netflix), where the robots are tourists (instead of aliens) - except, not as funny as your video!

Love Dad Jokes!

Or, what to do as a musician to make myself stand outsmile

Characterize people by their actions and you will never be fooled by their words.
