When I started violin I had a backup plan if I failed. I would take up the saxophone. Meanwhile, my brother's Grand Daughter took up the violin and over many years became well known in the scholastic circles in Philly. She has just started college.
Out of the blue ....... she takes her graduation money and buys a SAXOPHONE !!!!!! She practices for 4 days and is accepted for the marching band !!!!!!!!
I guess it is not practical to march with a violin.
When you come to a fork in the road, take it.
