Further proof that I am hopelessly addicted to stuff.  A sailboat looked nice to me.

That is funny. Wonder where Holland, NY is. Going to have to check Google Maps. Maybe it is near me. I am thinking up north in the Tug Hill or farther up in the Watertown (should be call “Snowtown” area, though. Not near me. Or west towards Batavia and Buffalo. I think Batavia has a dirt track. Don’t think it is where I am. Never heard of it. Never saw it going south or south then east on our two routes we take to visit a daughter. But that does not mean it isn’t in those areas.

It has never been mentioned in our local news, and some pretty unknown towns and villages are mentioned periodically, especially when they have odd events like bathtub races, cardboad box races, etc. Never heard of this one mentioned.

Almost sounds like it would be around NY city. “Holland” tunnel. Or maybe near Amsterdam! LOL such an odd race. Hope those objects being towed and the trailers were no longer useful.

Oh, this might explain the little boat we see heading west on thw thruway on our way back from a city we go to. On a slope between the right side of the thruway and the left side of a rural parallel road there is an old beat up boat angled front end (I do not know boat terms) pointing down towards the thruway. It has been there almost three years. Beginning to look weather warn. We keep wondering how someone cam be towing a boat and not know it is no longer behind them. LOL I it is not on a trailer.

Thanks for the clip.

In the beginning of the race around the turn I could swear I saw a few boats with people sitting in them. They must be brave souls, or dummies....literally!

What is it that we love to see controlled demolition like this? I remember when I was young, the Wide World of Sports on Saturday afternoons would sometimes have an old fashioned demolition derby. I used to love that!

BTW...my last car before the one I have now I gave away to a guy that was going to drive it at a demolition derby at a country fair. Wonder how it made out...a 2000 Buick Century.

I'm sure you can find one down yonder.  Heck...saw some in the U.K. on YouTube.  Always a county fair event.

Holland, NY. Out towards Buffalo. A tad southeast of it. Wonder if they do this in ice in the winter? I know, trucks with plows in the front towing snowmobiles. Maybe snowskiers being towed behind them. Oh, no! Don’t give these goofballs ideas.

I really have to send this link to my son, needs a good laugh. I think this will do it.

speaking of demolision derbies, though. When I grew up we lived on the street the county fair was held at, but not right next door to it. They used to have a demolision derby the last night of the fair. It wss quite fun to watch, actually. County Fair is still held there.

There is a dirt race track there, still used. Every Saturday night we could sit outside and listen to it. Kind of liked it. They stopped for a few years after I married and moved, but started up again and have been dong it since.

Haha @Mouse .  The trailers made it u ique and I got a chuckle Thinking about the lake traffic this weekend being a holiday weekend for the U.S.   its fun being ON the lake but putting in and trailering ..meh not so much.  We always have a demo derby here every year for the fair...and the tractor pulls and such.  Don't go every year..but its something different from time to time.  Always went when younger.  Drove a derby worth car as a teenager to work school and such.  Those were dah days yes?

They are fun to watch. Even back then, we had lady drivers in the demonderby right along with the guys. No special demo derby for ladies and one for men. Yes, ladies won, also.

I remember the first year I could go, my fav older brother took me.  I wanted cotton candy. He said it was not a good idea. He never denied me anything back then, so, I asked again. He reluctantly got me some. Cotton candy and the dirt in the air from a demo derby, not a good combination! He got a laugh out of it. Now, there was already a ootnof dirt in the air. The demo derby followed the main race at the fair. I don’t remember ever wanting cotton candy again. Might have, but I don’t remember ever wanting it. I was only 5 or 6 and it was a treat to stay up late with my fav older bro. He was 2nd of nine kids. I was #8 of the nine, so he was a bit older.

It is funny the memories certain videos or pictures on things not having to do with you bring up. My favorite bro still spoils me, and my kids are his favorite nieces and nephew and my granddaughters are his favorite great nieces.

@ABitRusty  Thank you for that video. My fav bro’s 75th birthday is in a few days.

I looked at this and thought, now how is this all going to end? I figured probably not well lol!

There's a place up here called the Buck Tractor Pulls. It isn't technically just that. They have some wacky stuff like this sometimes. A reason to race, wreck and blow up stuff?

A junkyard sits about a mile down the road, so I think they fix up these old jalopies and send them out to be blown up and wrecked by whatever means they can find.

The boats........now that's a different twist on it lol!

There was a bathtub race a little southeast of us, still in the same county, so not too far. We never went but did see clips in the news on tv every year. People have a lot of fun.

It was haulted about 20 yrs ago when someone got hurt from a runaway tub! Insirance concerns after that.

They are supposed to start up again this year, but not on the streets.

Here is a link with a photo:

I am going to look for a video.

I haven't been in a bathtub race but certainly am familiar with the race to the bathroom.  Especially after waffle house.. Oh man the worst when it hits the "get to bathroom alarm"..but good greasy food on those road trips.  No offense waffle house...we're good..we're good.
