Hi Everybody!
So, I had this crazy idea after talking with my wife last night about common stereotypes of violinists, fiddlers and musicians. I got to thinking......which is always dangerous.....why not run with it?
I like to look for funny pictures and comics online about fiddlin' and there aren't too many out there.
I was wondering if we had some artists out there that can help create a Fiddlerman comic series!?
I even had a theme in mind! The stories would follow a concert violinist who reminisces about growing up and learning to fiddle. The main character would go through everything that we're experiencing and share our funny stories! I'm sure we all can come up with a ton of funny fiddlin' times from out past!
I think this comic might be able to lighten the mood when we become frustrated with learning and maybe introduce a new audience to violin! It would show that we've all had our struggles and though we may get frustrated, with the right mind-set and dedication, we can accomplish anything we want on violin!
What do guys think? Have I lost my marbles? LOL I'm not much of an artist, but I know many of you guys have other talents as well! Thoughts?
We may be able to turn this into a contest as well!

If we can find an artist(s), I'd be more than happy to help collaborate and organize! I had a few idea's for pilots, but I wanted to see what everybody thought first.
It's funny Naska, I actually thought of some really funny ideas from one of your replies in another topic! Ya know:
"C'mon, left elbow! Go under! I said: go under!", "This B was too flat!", "Here was vibrato somewhere!", "Those 16ths supposed to be equal!", "Wrist is relaxed…R-E-L-A-X-E-D!", "That was from the other piece! ", "Shut up, harmonic! You're not supposed to be a harmonic anymore!", "F#->A->F#->A->F#->G…G? G, where did You come from?", "What a strange sound? Violin fairies?"
I'll have to find that post where we listed our funniest violin moments as well as the interviews and the Fill In The Blank I posted a while back......there were some really funny ones there! We could have a ton of material right here on the forum!

Oh! That's a great work, You're aiming at!!!! =)
And don't forget about flying bows and bridges, falling off shoulderrests, breaking strings, rosin-clouds, stage fright, alco-fiddling, air violins on the work, angry neighbours and their pets, violin obsession (there's a thread about it somewhere), etc..

SEE!!! There's soo much we can cover with a FM comic! LOL I'll have to find all those threads and add them to my "watch" list to keep up with them.
I've been asking around for artists but with no luck so far. I can picture what a good FM comic strip would look like, but I can draw it myself.
If anybody else knows of an artist who would like to have a little fun, please ask 'em! I think it would be a great idea!

now see I thought that he was a concert violinist by day and crime fighter by late night. The city would be drawn in a strings themed art deco style. Since he lives so close to Miami and all. The lead character in the "Airwolf" tv series was a cellist so why not?

Oh, I'm sure we'll have PLENTY of stories with "flying" bows! LOL One of the ideas for a story I had was where the young "fiddler boy" is furiously bowing away, causing all kinds of screeches and squeals.......bow hairs & rosin dust flying everywhere......all the while the though bubble above his head shows him playing a beautiful violin solo to cheers and ovation! ....just need a clever quote from the kid for the punchline at the end though!
The possibilities are endless!

That thought bubble says it all. His dream.
The whole things could also be the thought bubble of an older man ready to perform his first solo Concert before a multitude of live/net/satellite viewers. Its the few seconds of calming before your performance and he is recalling his youth's dream and the first steps to a glorious career.
OR
the same older man on his exit solo and profession retirement performance recalling how it all began. In the closed door bedroom. Imagining what he has already lived. Calmly walking towards his stage position...with a warm ans peaceful smile.
