This is a report for any beginner who may be curious about e-violins because this is a curious story. The report is not an endorsement or tutorial of any kind. The bottom line may be that it is difficult to tell which equipment will work best and careful research makes sense before buying anything.
I have a guitar amp with 4 equalizer channels and reverb. I also have a ZOOM G1Nx effects box. Altogether, this can make a lot of racket with all kinds of rock distortions but that's not my favorite thing. Maybe the worse part is that there was a lot of string noise depending on exactly how the controls were set (piezo pickup). The e-violin is a Bridge Aquila.
Just on a whim I played the violin into a small PA amplifier ("LIL PA" 10w amp from Pignose). The amplifier had limited bandwidth of 65 hz to 20 khz so it was no surprise that violin sound quality was lost. BUT, most of the string noise was also gone.
I figured I would add the G1Nx to the setup and I was totally floored. I have only heard such sounds from large studio setups and never from anything I have personally tried before. Just beautiful! And, the string noise continued to be suppressed. I only tried 3 or 4 G1Nx patches so there is a lot to do.
I can't believe I have a sound I will finally like

That's great you are liking what you got set up Oliver. I have one of those little Pignose guitar amps in my closet and have had it since like 1979. Would love to hear your sound with your new setup. Let us hear! 10 watts won't work for me I don't think. Ya need many more watts for the sound to breathe. But hey you never know when it comes to recording. I already love your sound cause it really sounds like listening to really old albums and It's hard to reproduce that sound in the studio. You have a Zoom and another amp. I want to hear that sound. Simple can be best. Proud of you for working on you sound Oliver!

I am really surprised that such an odd collection of equipment seems to work and I will post a recording after I am sure I can confirm the good results two days in a row
My purpose right now is to come up will some low wattage to compete in a large (31 string) hammered dulcimer duet in church and assisted living venues. This new sound however is slightly more modern than fiddle so I have to hear if that works. (Not my signature Woody Allen sound however )
