I found this lady while looking for songs, and thought it was interesting.
She made this box fiddle, and as you'll see in the video, the inlay on it is beautiful.
The description of the woods she used, are on her youtube in the about link.
Enjoy!

It's sounds great and great workmanship. Thanks for the post
But could you call it a 'true' cigar box fiddle as it appears to be made from 'scratch' and it's purpose from conception was to be a fiddle.
The skill in making a 'true' cigar box fiddle is to take an 'existing' box that was made to be something other a fiddle, i.e. a cigar box or similar, and turn it into a musical instrument.
If any of our members would like to try making a cigar box fiddle, I've attached a file that will tell you how to do it. I intend to try doing it in the relatively near future and have even obtained the cigar box.
This video kind of illustrates what I mean
Seen it all. Done it all. Can't remember most of ..... What was I saying????

It's not called, a "Cigar Box" fiddle, only a "Box Fiddle".
The sound wasn't too bad on that, but the true, "Cigar Box" fiddle leaves something other to be desired.
In another thread, I posted that I made a cigar box ukulele when I was a kid and I did use a real "R.G.Dunn" cigar box. It sounded more like a real uke than the cigar box fiddle.
