My husband and I are clearing out things we no longer use. We have been putting them out front for free. It is actually quite fun seeing what people want.

The hottest item seems to be material and thread. I am no longer going to make quilts. I also no longer do machine embroidery. My assorted bags of really good quality material, threads and stabilizers (used in machine embroidering) are scooped up really fast. Another item that gets scooped up are small, not tiny, square icee type bags you freeze and put into coolers. My insulin comes with these all the time. I keep some, but I really need my freezer space. I hated to throw them out. Gave away as many as I could to people I know. I boxed them into two boxes and put them out two separate days. They were scooped up.

A pair of snow skis and poles (my son’s old skis) were scooped up today. Linoleum left over from a floor we put in last year was scooped. We over bought by a long shot. Wheel covers from our truck that we won’t use, a couple books. I have a lot of books out there. I might take a couple back inside. I like them and prefer to flip pages sometimes, rather than press a next page button.

Last month, we ripped out the kitchen flooring that was in this house when we bought it. The dining area had laminate wood, the kitchen area was ugly tile with filthy unclean-able wide grout. The laminate slats were still good. No damage when we removed it. It was scooped. The tiles were in bad shape. We put new laminate through the entire kitchen. We had a couple rolls of the cushioning under-flooring left. I don’t think the person who took the laminate slats realized he should take that under-flooring. That is still out there.

Just now someone took a couple bags of old piano and guitar books I had. I have 4 or 5 of those. I am going to go out an check to see if all the bags were taken. I had my sheet music pieces I purchased over the years in the bags, too. No violin, viola or cello books were put into the giveaway bags!

It has been fun. What is not fun is running out when it is going to rain, backing the truck up, and putting them back in the back end of the rolling the velcro cover back down to keep the water out. It is supposed to storm later today. Will have to keep our eyes open. A lot of people have stopped and scooped today, so I don’t want to bring it in too early.

Fun.

Just checked on the bags of music books. He took 3 or 4. There are only couple bags of those left. Nice! I also scooped up two books I wanted to keep and brought them back and put hem on my bookshelf. Two David Eddings books. That is not the idea. They are supposed to go out and not come back!
