Yeah, I tried it too with 4 strings and it loses something smile

Too bad cry

I was told by a Hungarian violin student, now an adult citizen in the USA, that an emerging violin celebrity in Hungary must first play that song to be recognized.  I think it is called "The Lark" in English.  So you better get a 5 string going if you expect to get any gigs over there !!

True genius!  I hope someday I will be good enough to play that bad  violin-student

Let us restore this forum to proper dignity with a performance showcasing the violin at it's very pinnacle !  Watch at least 3 minutes.

The piece is known as the "Hungarian Warm-up" exercise.

Are you being sarcastic -- which one are you talking about, the frustration waltz or the hungarian? i thought they both played well, but the sound of the "frustration waltz" really bothered me, i finished listening to it just because I can't stop a song in the middle. Did he have a bad violin or did he really play badly? honestly, what was wrong with his playing?

BTW, i think my violin has started to sound like his violin. i don't have to be good enough to play that bad:)

I like the hungarian one, i love his index finger movements, they made me laugh. I also like the birdy sound:)

Actually, Oliver described it better than I ever could. He has an incredible technique but plays terribly. And of course he is referring to my post and not the Hungarian that he posted. He was trying to get the topic back on track.rofl

@PKY   It is very difficult to play just off key.  I don't mean only making a racket but just enough to be comical.
I think it is also difficult to sing slightly off key (and recover to the main melody).

Fiddlerman and Oliver,

I didn't know that piece of music so I didn't know he was off key.

As I mentioned in "how to sing" my daugther sings off key all the time (unless it's a song she has made up on her own). I hope she does not play like that man. She at the point where she is using her index finger on the B. She gets that one great, but when she sings along with me, she is still off key. When she tries to sing along while playing, she has difficulty stretching her voice up high.

The gentleman who play the hungarian music, he plays like a bird and the music sounds like a bird:) I want to show it to my daughter.

The truth is that it is hard to put my finger on what his problem is. I would have a very difficult time correcting his faults. He is super talented in some ways but has WAY too many emotions and exaggerates everything. His intonation isn't way off but just enough to sound bad.
