Sounds like a NASCAR event but it ain't.  Rather, it is the occasion of the FIDDLERMAN SITE surpassing the 200 member milestone.  I believe that this has happened in under a year.

This is pretty impressive and could only happen because of some clever choices and the first class talent and experience to back it all up.  Let's hear it for the FIDDLERMAN (and his staff)wink

Yeeeeeeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!

The first post made was on Jan 27th, 2011 which is only 7 months of registered members.

I was told that succeeding with a new forum is next to impossible by many who have tried and am therefor am super thrilled by the growth of this forum and very thankful to my "STAFF" cheerleader

Thanks to all of you for contributing to the great atmosphere and environment here. Special thanks to Oliver who was patient and persistent visiting and discussing topics almost alone with me at first and has had many great ideas to improve Fiddlerman.com on the way as well.

I'm really hoping that 200 is approaching "critical mass" which means that there will be a lot more posts from others besides me.  My 600 posts has to mean I have a lot to say (some valuable) and others are just browsing and/or shy.  I would like to sit back and read sometimes.

I have high hopes for Daniel, Pky and David Burns who are in a very tight race most of the time ( Within a count of 1 post?  How can that happen?)

FIDDLERMAN    Are you able to tally daily hits?

Daily UNIQUE visits to this site are around 300 right now. Growing very fast though. A unique visit is when a person visits the site even if they visit 10 times it counts as 1.

However, this is for the whole Fiddlerman.com site and not just the forum. The forum is the landing site for 9% of my visits now. 17% of my views on Fiddlerman are on this forum so we have about 51 unique visitors per day here on the forum.

BTW, Sunday the 15th, we had 312 unique visits

Quite international as well with US in first place followed by the UK, Canada, and then big surprise "Philippines", Australia, India, Sweden, Germany, Malaysia and Italy.

After these countries we have under 50 visits per country and month.

What is great is the growth rate that continues to be around 40% per month. At that rate we can expect to have 420 visits in a month, 588 a month later..... You get the point. I don't expect the growth to stay this intensive but am very happy so far. I was also told that it takes a year for a site to get listed on the first page of Google for any good key words and we are on for many good ones after 10 months online. Yeeeeeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!

There is something about this site, it just kinda grows on ya. Very friendly, non-assuming, down to earth people who want to play music and help each other to play music. Thanks for having me around, the place feels like home.

Yeah! Bravo! Opa!万岁!

Okay, Question for the fiddlerman:

If I visited the website several times a day but were not login, either from the same computer, different computer, or both, did it count me as the same person or different?

Google doesn't really know whether or not you logged in to my database. They keep track of where you are coming from, what pages you visit, and how long you spend on each one. The IP address is what the search engine sees.

So to answer your question, it counts as one unique visit if those are the statistics that I am looking at. Google Analytics have many different stats that you can study.

Thanks guys, feels like home for me too. doublekiss

There are a lot of great things which drew me to this site. The overall feeling is one of camaraderie. No one seems to be talking down to anyone else in forums (not that I've seen anyway).

Also, I was floored (in a good way) when I watched Fiddlerman's review of the Cecelio $100 violin on youtube. I was sure he was going to say it was a piece of junk and a total waste of money. It was nice to hear a professional say it was ok to start with an inexpensive instrument and try it out to see what happens.

Thanks Sara,

I've played on hundreds of violins in my life, some incredible and some not very good. Colleagues want other professionals opinions when they are in the market to buy, not to mention all the violins I have been on the market to buy. I can't go into a luthiers shop without trying a fiddle. From all this I just want to say that I have played on EXTREMELY expensive violins that sound like c__p.

You don't always get what you pay for. That is not to say that your chances are not much greater if you buy an instrument built and put together by a great luthier. This is a fact. One of the most important things for a great sound is the set up. Strings, bridge, sound-post, and how the violin is put together. Most of these things are relatively easy to change whereas a bad shape, wood thickness, wood quality, resonance etc, are much more of a problem.

The main difference is that if I buy a violin for a half million dollars I don't dare be critical of it for feeling like I made a huge mistake or getting real depressed, whereas if I only payed $99, I won't feel guilty about criticizing it.

Thanks Sara, you took the words out of my mouth.  This site has so many other members in the same situation as myself, that's what makes it great.  And those experienced members helping us along really are compassionate and thoughtful in their advice.

Congratulations Fiddlerman.com, it's a fantastic site.  I'm addicted.

This site is amazing, I concur with the rest of you. I've tried off and on for years by myself to learn, not having the time to take lesson I thought I would never learn to play. This forum not only gives me me encouragement, it acts as a community of people with the same passion. Sometimes it's hard to find someone to talk to about fiddling. Hear nobody is tired of talking about it.
