Keith, so glad you got that taken care of when you did,,, you are one lucky man,,, nothing to play around with. And the Coumadin freaked me out too; I felt like a big sack of blood just waiting for something/someone to pop me.
Hope this is a lesson learned for the future,,, DON'T dork around with a pain like that!
And the docs probably didn't tell you this, but it's VERY IMPORTANT, make sure when you get home to drink lots of alcohol,,, it seems to stabilize your blood thickness and aids in blood flow!

I just got educated on how to self-inject Lovenox (a heparin variant blood thinner). I'm the guy who could never prick my own finger in my A&P classes for blood-typing. It wasn't that bad, really. I've given insulin to friends and family members, so the principal was the same, even if the target was much more personal.
I was actually on a Skype video call with Pierre at the time the night nurse came in, but we decided not to share the experience and disconnected before things got interesting. LOL ...
So, the deed is done. It didn't hurt, really, and I should be doing them at home sometime starting tomorrow.

Hey man, I must be getting slow about reading these posts.
Sorry to hear about ya having all kids of health issues bro. Take care of yourself. You have my prayers and I wish you a most speedy recovery. I mean, without you as THE Viola player...whom else can I make fun of? You gotta get better quicker or all my jokes are going towards Pierre! lol
Suck it up and get that Viola out and playing!

Keith, I refrained earlier from telling you how I dealt with the injections (I could never be a drug addict because I HATE needles, lol), but this might be useful...
The only way I dealt with the twice daily injections was to get my wife to be my "naughty nurse" [yes my wife is a sport] and administer them, lmao; sounds stupid, but true; my wife could've performed an appendectomy, I really wouldn't have noticed, haaaaaaaa!
So food for thought...

FM! may we have the latest news about Keith's progress and what the Akido man talked with you over skype about his health.
P.S. I have removed the attached photo. A 1000 apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Fred,, I hope you were only kidding about the alcohol thing. You DON'T use alcohol and Coumadin (Warfarin) together, they are both blood thinners. Really bad for the liver.
HC, I notice you are all decked out with only one place to go..... HOME... Take care of yourself when you get there and..... Good Luck.

Suresh, my friend ... I appreciate you and your concern, but I'm a little uncomfortable with having personal pictures from my FaceBook account posted elsewhere by anyone other than myself.
As for FM having any information beyond what's already been shared here ... Nah. Our call got cut short, when the nurse came in bring me my injection. We mostly had time to exchange pleasantries.
I'm fine.
Really.
You folks are the best, but quit worrying about me and go practice.

No harm, Suresh. You meant well. I know that, of course ... nothing to forgive or be upset about.
Pierre, it was a good thing I put the phone down, as I needed both hand to give myself the injection. That was a new experience for me... and one you definitely didn't want to share. Both the wife and I are now well-versed in the proper application of a timely Lovenox (Enoxaparin Sodium) injection. Most of the time, it won't be necessary - only if my Coumadin INR levels need a temporary boost to tide me over.
Doc says it will be weeks before the clot is fully dissolved, but for now it's stabilized and softened enough to allow blood-flow and healing to begin. I'm pain-free and breathing freely, but pretty-much limited to hanging out around the house until my next doctor's appointment on Friday.
Thanks for all the prayers, well-wishes and good thoughts!
