Haha ! Indeedely Doodely !
We're almost out of time !
Instead of a mini project - anyone who wants to throw in a quick performance of anything, just as long as it is Auld Lang Syne and nothing else - feel free to add ! ( Come on, you MUST know that tune in your head! "Wing it", improv with it, rock it, anything goes !!! )
Time-limited offer ! LOL ! I know, everyone's always kinda busy come New Years Eve - but if you have a few minutes and can scratch, hack, or saw out the tune of Auld Lang Syne - go for it - it only takes a few minutes to set up and post ( well, OK, I gotta add on a couple of hours upload time - but - it doesn't have to be video - audio alone is even quicker ! )
I'll scratch, hack, and saw-away at my version tomorrow (31st) LOL
And, a HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL when it comes around ! Thank you to all active forum members for the great submissions, music, general discussion, even the non-music posts ! It has been a great 9 months here - I have learned so much - thank you all !
Hoping 2015 will be a fine year for each and every one of you!
Bill

OK, 'tis the morn' o' the 31st and here's mine - no vid - just on soundcloud.
Nothing much to say about it, still hitting the occasional adjacent string, still fluffing the odd note. Anything good about it ? Well, to me, yes - I can play "unrehearsed and off the cuff" for what are now "extended periods of time" without first having to sit down for about 30 minutes, work through the "difficult to me" bits to play and so on. What else - I feel I am in control of the instrument, rather than the other way round
When I started off, earlier this year, it would have taken - oh the 30 mins of "planning" and maybe 10 recording shots to arrive at something half way reasonable - and even then I would be lucky to get much more than 30 to 45 seconds worth without messing it up totally.
So that's been my voyage so far with the violin - it really is starting "to feel like a part of me"
Happy fiddling in 2015 folks !

A few things have changed in the last year. I bought a $130 'A' style mandolin and its sound and my skills are beginning to mature. I sold off 3 of my inexpensive violins a bit less expensively and bought and restored an 1880-1910 Italian Bowl-back mandolin. It has a sweeter sound than my 'A' Style. I am thoroughly committed to mandolins and my resolution for 2015 is to build an "A' style Mandolin from scratch and also a Mandola and a Mandriola in hopes of coming up with a few heritage instruments to leave to my sons. In response to this Forum entry being so close to the day.

Haste Ye Back, we love you dearly, Call again you're welcome here, May your days be free from sorrow, And your friends ever near. May the paths O'er which you wander, Be to you a joy each day. Haste Ye back we love you dearly, Haste Ye back on friendship's way.
And just because Bill asked for it!

Heyyy - your participation was not expected - you are busy with your own life !!! LOL - and I hope the performance went well !
LOL ( well, not laughing really ) @Fiddlerman - dude - Ummagumma - "Careful with that axe, Eugene (aka Pierre with knife in hand)"
Hope it heals soon !
[ Wooooo - I haven't listened to this in years - although I still "hear it in my head" from time to time - tells yah FAR TOO MUCH about my wasted youth.... ] Here you go Floyd fans -
(yes, they do go on on a bit - but it was "in the era" and you "just did" that kinda thing when wasted...! )
Thanks for reminding me of that, man ( in spite of the sliced open thumb! )
LET 2015 ROCK FOR YOU BRO and keep the site kicking ! ^5s

@coolpinkone - thank you so much for that - the whole thing was really an "off the cuff" thing - the "heat of the moment" - I just felt we needed a thread for any "last minute posters" to kick 2014 in the a$$ LOLOL - and we got three ! That's cool !
Your playing is very precise, sounding great! Personally, I pay too little attention to timing and intonation and it often sounds - well - not as it should... hmmm !
So, well done and thank you ! Have a great 2015 - by my command ! LOL

@Tyberius - you too mate, all the best for the year !
@Fiddlerman - hmmmm - Floyd partyyyyy... nowww THAT STARTS TO WORRY ME (in the sense I am just wondering what kind of evil sound I can come up with on the EV with FX - oh heck it's gonna take some work... I just knew this would happen.... oh well ! LOLOL )
Fired up on that idea...

@BillBabson thank you. "Precise". Awh that is sweet. I need more fluidity to do the song justice... But that is what j got this year. I should compare to last years and see if it was the same... giggle. But thank you for making a thread for us and for listening!
Vibrato Desperato.... Desperately seeking vibrato

Great job Toni. Thanks
Exactly Bill.I may even start that party.
Right now I can't play because of my thumb (I know it sounds like an excuse) but I'm hoping Monday I can at least play enough to demo our sold instruments.
...wrap that thumb in a bandage, it'll make it easier for you to slide up the neck as you change position - oh - you can do that already ! LOL..... (green with envy!)
Anyway, it's my own fault for mentioning this and going down this road - but now I'm just "lost" - I have wasted ( ? well, no, not really ) 3 hours listening to not only Floyd, but also the Moody Blues - I have always liked "Tuesday Afternoon" (not to forget Nights in White Satin and so on...)
and yes, sadly, I used to have hair like that... hmmmm... LOL
I think it's not a bad idea to take some "traditional" rock ( I use the word because of its age - still in living memory of course, but "old enough to be called traditional" !!! LOL ) and re-visit it with a strings-version - I think there is mileage in this. A "Trad Rock" thread, with projects / parties / whatever... And a lot of that stuff just isn't fundamentally difficult.... they may not be of the "classical genre", but they are indeed "classics"
... oh well, it's off to find some Jethro Tull now and Heavy Horses - there is no cure for me - I'm sorry to say.... (and if anyone knows of a cure - DO NOT TELL ME!)

@coolpinkone - TY CPO... yessss, my "precise" referred to your very careful and deliberate playing. And I never do enough of that - well - I do during practice on scales/arpeggios/free-form-practice - but when it comes to actual playing, I "put that aside" and just "hope" that my practice shines through - and sadly - it doesn't always - LOL...
I assume your reply was intended for me - although "billbabson" may be wondering why he got mentioned ! LOL - I'm just "Bill" @bill LMAO ! ... maybe change my nick to JustBill - lol - too many of us I guess ! hahaha ! Or to my BillyG SJ nick... I'll think about it - I can see the confusion, easy to "miss-pick-the-nick" - I've done that before as well - much to my embarrassment ... LOL
