The detache is when she is playing separate notes otherwise there are quite a few slurs in this performance. A slur is when you tie the notes together in one bow, not separate. It's cute how she can't look into the camera without kind of laughing or smiling.smile

Is that your friend Gerry?

That was a really enjoyable performance. I really appreciate it when violinists film themselves so you can clearly see both their left and and their bow hand. I love to watch different musicians play!

nice video  :D I enjoyed it.

On "Cheap eBay violins" … Just tell people they are like a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree.  With a little love, and some practice, they too can be made beautiful.

Listened to ViolinTay also and that has to be one of the best sounding violins I ever heard on YouTube.  In fact, I have sat in very small venues where there was a Stradivarius ( two times ) and I have to judge that they were no better sounding than the ViolinTay instrument.  Sure helps a performance even when the performer is very talented and fully able to deliver that great sound.

Meanwhile, if violins are supposed to age well, I wish my two would hurry up.dazed

If violins, which are made of wood, get better with age and the more they are played, why is it that people get more broken the older they get and more tired if they are played?  I want to be a viloin in my next life.

Just not the violins that get drown in bathtubs, smashed on YouTube, or run over by cars. yell cry

If I had to be an instrument in a next life I would want to be a lute. People would play pretty music and take good care of you.  :D (I am sure there are very horrid lute accidents too lol, but I haven't seen any.)

This is a bit of a different genre of music but I was blown away by this guy's playing lol

If violins improve while performers decline that would mean that there is only one unique crossing in time when things are optimum.   So, while my reflexes deteriorate I am depending on my ageing violins to mature and offset my decline.

I know! I've listened to Strads on youtube and I was like.. they don't sound much different than the new instruments. I also listened to this lady's 3 million dollar violin and thought it should only be worth about 1 million dollars.  xD

Saying that, a lot of people might want to smack me. Lol.

Unless recording just matters that much. I'm sure they sound way different in person.
