Valentine's Day is coming up, so I thought I'd wish everyone a Happy V-Day with a little video. It's also my second fiddle-versary; my husband gave me my violin as a Valentine's Day gift in 2012.

I know it's short notice for a party, but if anyone has a love-themed song or tune in their "back pocket," please join me and post it here! It could be romantic, funny or sad. It could be something you've previously posted or even someone else's video that you enjoy. Just show your love for Fiddlerman.com. And there's no deadline.

That was awesome, Diane.

Love your orchestra, beautifully done.

Thank you for sharing.

Thanks, folks. I'm having a blast making these multi-instrument videos. It gives me an opportunity to experiment with and learn how instruments work together.

And I really enjoy editing. As you saw, I threw in a few more embellishments this time: some "B-roll" of ocean scenes (playing on the Titanic theme) and a posterization effect on the tin whistle clips.

I zoomed in on my hands in the whistle scenes because if you think I look serious when I play the fiddle, you should see my face when I play the whistle. yell

I also added a little reverb effect on the tin whistle audio because I wanted to get that hollow, echoey sound like in the Celine Dion recording.

Maybe I'm getting a little carried away with my videos, but I can't help it...it's so much fun!

Now, is anyone else going to share a love-theme video?heart

I will certainly try. Been having a lot of trouble with my video editing software, but have a new one on the way. If I miss out, can I blame it on the FedEx guy?.....tongue

Really great.  I enjoyed that performance very much.  I see you got the Sweetone.  Good job on it and everything else.

Thanks folks. Hope you join in, @Feathers .

Good suggestion, Rick @StoneDog ! drummer

Yes, @Uzi , I did get the Clarke Sweetone, based on your recommendation. I was going to PM you about it but hadn't gotten around to it yet. At first, I wasn't sure if I liked it because it's got an airier sound than my other two whistles. I definitely like it now though. The tuning is spot on and once I found the right air velocity, the sound improved greatly. Thanks for the tip!

cheers

Exactly!!! Probably the main reason I made my last video is because of how much fun it is to learn about video editing. Learning new techniques is what keeps me going.

Great job Diane!!!

My contribution to @KindaScratchy valentines party and 50th anniversary of Beatles to America:In My Life

What could be more valentiny than lyrics like "Though I know I'll never lose affection, for people and things that went before , In my life I love you more"

(Apologies; only have about 5 hours into this one so there are many imperfections) g

@KindaScratchy I do have a few songs in my back pocket but I love these opportunities - challenges really to find and learn a new song.  Then terrors of terrors record and post a video.

Let me set this up - I decided to tape in my restroom.  I set the camera up on a medicine cabinet [someone here said something about having the camera above you?] turn my back to it and face the wall [someone mentioned that to helps you hear the real sound?].  Everything is in position I do a dry run through.  Turn on the camera .... sat down on our toilet and the seat was loose!!!!  That bobble of the first note is me almost falling off the seat!!  I am trying to make my new big bowings and balance on a very crooked!!  Guess what - no nerves!!  I was so busy concentrating on not falling off the seat!!

I tried to repeat and re-video, no such luck!!  While standing I kept hitting our fan!!

ANYWAY!!  To my new friends here at Fiddlerman.com, Happy Valentines Day!!:
