People who are into cars often give their rides names. Have you named your violin? (I haven't...yet.) If so, it's OK, you can tell us, we're your friends and we won't tell anyone else.

embarassed

When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

Nope not yet maybe never but I called it my boy a couple time, maybe he'll invite me on a date and we'll become lovers? I'll have to learn romantic vibrato lol (not).

I've thought of calling my violin 'Rose'. Unique and one of a kind like Rose on Two and half Men. LOL

I've been thinking about that for a long time now!  My other guitars and trumpets all have names, but my 2 fiddles sit here nameless! I think we need to fix that! LOLwink

Several names are already associated with my instrument.

During fits of frustration while playing, I apply all sorts of ignoble indignities and slurs to make it behave; some of them being applied farly consistantly; Im sure you get the idea if I include the knowledge that I served for many years in the Navy.

I cant help it....it just comes out.

I try to make it up to my otherwise amiable fiddle at bed time by rendering physical care and soft words.

In good supply at my house are Neo sporin and band-aids.  By morning the instrument heals and we start all afresh.

In a very short time, Im afraid, Ill feel compelled to name it LAZARUS.

Enjoyed all the answers above! I think when I get a violin of more quality, I will probably name it.  Not that I don't care for my present version - it is serving me well. I am just not endeared by its cheapness.

Never crossed my mind. Cool idea though.
