Many weeks ago I decided to devote my time to playing with the church group for the Christmas season.  The church "group" is only 3 other people but they are fabulous musicians (two flutes,piano/organ).

I will keep it short but here is what happened:

I have learned more by playing with this group than I ever would on my own.  They "pushed the envelope" and it was sink or swim.  (I would strongly suggest that anyone who can play in a community orchestra do so.) (FM jams come close.)

There are a lot of "sour grape" critics (even in a church).  I know I could have played better but I also played much better than expected.  Most comments were very favorable.

Bravo Oliver!

Any recordings?

Its amazing how playing with other instruments turns our sounds into music!

I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....

There are no recordings.  The church is currently getting hysterical about copyright infringement so they won't record:

Music with expired copyright.

Music in the public domain.

Music which was purchased and performance is allowable.

Music which might show up on the church web site.

And all other possible things that might cause a problem under any circumstances.

Better safe than sorry.

(I'm working on tucking a small recorder into my wife's pocketbook but risking all HELL and damnation if I'm caught !)
