Hello all,

I often binge watch violin videos on Youtube and I came across a video previously that I have watched at least a dozen times. It is such an emotional video. I already get emotional watching people play the violin and listening to violin solos by my lonesome. I know that when I finally do start playing the violin, I will be one of those violinists that cry every time they play lol. Do any of you get emotional listening to or playing the violin?

Anywho, here is the video:

If anyone knows the soloist or the name of the song, I'd greatly appreciate the info.

Pretty sure the violin that you're hearing isn't on screen -- the violin falling apart as he plays looks like CGI.

Also, it looks like the music was composed just for the video; the violinist (Tobie Tripp) and composer (Joss Holden-Rea) are both named in the credits. Holden-Rea has composed music for a bunch of British TV shows, most notably a few tracks for The Apprentice.

I'm similar. I definitely binge watch string music (mainly viola, because that's my main instrument) and I find that there's a lot of music that makes me emotional. Some of my favorite emotionally charged solos, two viola videos and one violin video:

Thank you both for posting this selection of tunes, I've never heard these beautiful performances. I could spend all day cruising youtube looking for music I like. Unfortunately, I like so many kinds of music that I wouldn't be able to get anything done on the farm 🙁 I just wish I could play like ANY of them 😉

Lol, well I guess I should have worded what I said better. It's obvious the guy in the video isnt actually playing that violin. That would be pretty impossible to do on a broken violin. I just meant, who was the musician and composer. Didn't even think to look at the credits...oops. facepalm

On another note, if someone did cry while playing the violin, would it do significant damage to the instrument?

That was very creative and interesting.

Thanks for the links.

@AmandaKulp - The instrument that I told you about last year is this one:

Hello Fiddlerman!

Thank you for linking that violin outfit! It is very affordable and for that price, it sounds really good.
