There is an mp3 clip of me playing but you can (should) ignore that. The important issue is that the string instrument is a 15" viola that I tortured into being the best instrument I have ever played and I've been in some fancy studios. This was not clever, it was just luck.
I also challenged my ability to make a good recording of anything but no luck. I still can't figure out how to throw switches and start playing at the same time? I just am not an audio engineer!
Finally, is there any hope that I can post anything. A few years ago that was almost mission impossible but I think all is well now(?) However, I still can make recordings that sound nothing like the actual thing.

Well, one easy fix to the "can't figure out how to throw switches and play at the same time" problem Is to leave some blank space at the beginning and end of the track. 10 seconds at the head and 10 seconds at the tail is usually enough to give yourself time to pick up the instrument, get it into playing position, etc. All that musician-in-the-real-world stuff.
Don't worry about any noises you make during that time that get recorded, since you're just going to edit it off anyway.

I'm not entirely sure what folks here mostly use, Oliver.
I've usually assumed probably one of those smart phones or maybe an iPad or something.
That could be a really good question for a poll.

I was sort of showing here that my altered viola/violin sounds OK and works well with my larger build. The annoying part is that my left hand still wants to play violin after many years of habit. I'm in awe of people who can play different string instruments almost simultaneously. (Would you say "Roy Clark"?) But then, I do not read many complaints from folks who go "5 string". That seems difficult!
I'm hoping that doing some chromatic scales will help.
My recently inherited Windows 7 machine has a movie maker I have to try. Maybe the movie makers are popular.
