I also think that a 3-d vioiln would be cool I would hang the violin on my wall

I would guess when it happens (and it will….someday) you will be able to do better than hang it on the wall……it will be playable.  And I imagine you could choose which Stradivarius you would like to have printed.  All of that will be contained on a thumb drive or, maybe, a compact disk for cello!

Well I for one am blown away.  That would be soooo cool, to have violins of every size and colour hanging from the ceiling ...

But I wonder how much it'd cost to copy me ... ?

That way I could send the copy to work, while I stay home and play music.

Can someone please put that to the engineering geeks?

I do a bit of n00b 3d design as a hoby. I have also had stuff 3D printed. XD If I had some really detailed pictures of the inside of a violin, it'd be a fun project to work on! The only downside is that most available materials for 3d printing are plastics, metals, and glass. The pricing is by volume of material, so it gets to be pretty costly pretty fast.
