Thomas got his audition piece for the next season of the BSYO and it is a killer, Vivaldi's Concerto in G major(in 3 movements). He also has to play a 3 octave G major scale along with a 3 octave G major arpeggio. Six months ago, when he auditioned for the BSYO, all he had to do was a simple G major, 1 octave scale with no arpeggio, sight read something laughably simple and a 2 minute audition piece of his choice. I asked his teacher why such a difficult piece. "He wants to be in first chair, doesnt he?" Well, that is all Thomas needed to hear. He is wicked excited and now wanted to practice and practice. Listen to how difficult it is, even if you listen for a minute. Oh, and he only has 6 weeks to learn it.
