Why is my fiddle has no Art no. and year? are they lazy to write the art no and date? LOL? All I know is it was crafted in year of 19's. And I think my fiddle is kinda old( 11++ years ) but not too old to produce a quality sound.

Nice picture though, I can see the parrot insideWink

Probably right though, would have taken too much effort to write a number.

Do you know what the Chinese (I am guessing) characters are? That may be your date. Also Art. No. If you look to the left of the "A" in Art, it looks like a large P. Could this be Part. No. ? I don't know who you could see about translating the Chinese, maybe try a Chinese restaurant.

Good point David,

Another possibility would be that you could take a high quality picture of the label and use a OCR program to copy it correctly then use GOOGLE TRANSLATE.

我的小提琴是在瑞典。

Otherwise if you take the picture and skip the OCR, I'm sure one of us can have one of our chinese friends help us out on this one. cool

Pretty sure the Chinese says "Made in China."

The fist two characters mean China, "Zhōngguó" or the country of China. 中国 (or 中國). The second two mean Manufacture - 製造

Hmm, I can't read Chinese or Music. This is a very humbling website! Maybe I will just lurk for a while! dancing    One of my favorite characters! You see him on big rigs on the road. He is the "Blind Spot"

@ Fiddlerman, I always forget the technology I have at my fingertips. The google translation is a great idea. I am over here thinking, just take the violin to a Chinese restaurant. Then I see your suggestion and I am like Homer Simpson..."DOOO"

I am finally home for more that a couple hours of sleep. Our work center restored power to over 27,000 people from two storms occurring midnight Saturday and 4am Sunday. I worked 48 hours between Sunday am til Tues afternoon. Squeezed a few hours of sleep in and sadly have not touched my violin since Saturday evening. I am catching up here and I am going to get some dinner and then drive my poor son crazy practicing!

My Chinese is suuuuuuuper bad. Just enough to recognize a hand full of characters and say something is expensive when haggling.dancinbunny

But I have 1337 Google skills. Google translate has been super helpful with me brushing up on my Chinese though.

@Dave: No, that's not "P" It's just a design on the edges of the label.

@Pika: thanks for your transalation haha!

@Fiddlerman: I LURVV the new emoticons hahadancing

Anyways I'm thinking that the year label should be written after the 中國製造19"_" like this one
