I did a search for Old English Ballads (quite a while back, think we were talking about murder ballads somewhere), but got discouraged since most of the beautiful/ornate books only had lyrics!
I normally think of John Playford's "The Dancing Master" Volumes for English tunes, but I did save a link to a cool book you can view free on the Internet Archive - Popular music of the olden time : a collection of ancient songs, ballads, and dance tunes, illustrative of the national music of England : with short introductions to the different reigns, and notices of the airs from writers of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries : also a short account of the minstrels - by W. Chappell & G.A. Macfarren
