Well, considering it is over 190 yrs old and based on an ancient hymn, not exactly new. But "previously unconsidered", perhaps.

Still "fresh" Beethoven, though. It was apparently just a scrap, but I think there's enough of it played in the little vid on that page to give folks enough to go on, if anyone is inclined to work up some arrangements/versions. Doesn't sound harder as a basic melody to do than "Ode to Joy" and it might be nice to have a little Beethoven piece to play with that hasn't been overdone in every newbie music book.
Kind of nice to see that good old Ludwig scribbled stuff up and then decided it was crap and moved on, much like any of us do.
