That is so sad. Will you be having a service for the poor thing.

I must ask though how did it get in the drive way behind the, I assume the car?

Yeah, OMG!!

I think it is still fixable, but a lot of work and $, so the question is, is it worth to get it fixed?

Thank goodness. But don't tell whoever owns that violin that I said that. LOL

When I was a youngster carpooling with my friend at All-county orchestra, he had just bought a new violin that he was so proud of which he handed to his mom. His mom baked up the car and we felt the car running over some object. His mom says "what was that noise?" my buddy says, "probably just a beer can". Then we see his violin case crushed in the parking lot with lot's of wood coming out. I've never seen so many pieces in my life. The sad part is that it was a fine older Italian instrument. It was his mom that had laid it up against the car and forgot about it.

LOL, I suppose when your parents pay for everything you have to accept their flaws. exactly He was furious the whole ride home. I wished at the time that I was somewhere else.

Ouch.. to both your picture Oliver, and the story from FM...... I can imagine that car ride would have been bad. Especially after your friend gathered up the pieces. Geeze...

I do like BCShalom's solution in getting bright colored instrument cases. But black just looks classy.

On "Cheap eBay violins" … Just tell people they are like a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree.  With a little love, and some practice, they too can be made beautiful.

My first thoughts about the violin were it's gone but then I started looking at it and thinking, what can be done to repair this New ribs and back but can the top be reasembled and so many cleats what will it sound like. Then I found out it wasn't Olivers and I was relieved.  Goodbye Violin.

Old topic, new question for Fiddlerman and Oliver:

What kind of cases were those violins in?

Thank you!

I don't think Oliver knows. The instrument that I was talking about was in an old hard American case. I don't think there are many cases that can support the weight of a car driving over it.
