I have a deep interest in building split bamboo violin bows.  As such, when I discovered that the Fiddler Magazine ran an article in their Spring 2012 issue on the bow maker David Zimmerman on his bamboo bow, I immediately sent for a back issue.

Once obtained, I was disappointed to find that the pictures were so small and grainy that I was unable to use them to find construction details.  So I sent an email to the editor, Mary Larsen, for her archive photos.  She immediately responded (on a Saturday) with three photos.  Many thanks to Mary.  Further proof that we now live in the future.  For those with interest, I have enclosed one of the photos here for view.D284EC18-1D05-4E05-8217-47403D56303E.jpegImage Enlarger

Irv,

That is a beautiful tip, but the joint is gorgeous that joins the ebony tip to the bamboo shaft.

I plan on using bamboo, but making the whole head out of corian would be a hoot and would make the head just about indestructible.
