I couldn't tell if she was playing. I haven't seen this episode! Thank you so much for posting. 
I am guessing you asked for seniors because of the Jack Benny thing? They are replaying his shows now on TV you know. (at least on our local stations)
On "Cheap eBay violins" … Just tell people they are like a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. With a little love, and some practice, they too can be made beautiful.

Lucille played the violin and saxophone. Sure can't tell you if that is really her playing in that video but look at her form. Not bad.
If she is not actually playing, I agree that she is well coached.

I suspect Benny himself coached her on how to look like she was playing (even if she is on the wrong string for part of it). Despite his schtick of being a poor player, he was in fact quite accomplished, though no maestro.

Ditto! you could hear the violin still going on for a few more notes after she lifted her bow. I might be true that she had had a few lessons during her childhood. Some where I read said she play ukelele.

I really like that. She did a great job!
I've always hated when actors try to make believe they are playing the violin and they aren't even close to holding it right, let alone possibly getting a real sound out of it!
