Here is a video from an E-mail my cousin sent me. Watch the little children.

That was awesome.  If something like that happened here, people would probably just get mad that the sidewalk was blocked.

I forgot to mention the little girl on the light pole,,,, and that all the musician's w/the exception of the first double bass player were all in street clothe's.

Notice the little girl who dropped the first coin / money in the hat, she never move's from her place, stay's there through the whole performance.

Awesome video. My 6yo recognized the tune right away. He wants to play either the double bass or the cello. He likes the size of the double bass, but likes being able to sit down for the cello. We have the beginnings of a family chamber music group I think.

I love the way the kids were getting into the music in the video. Music is so much more moving in person than heard through a tv or stereo. It is a pity more kids can't experience the live deal.

LOL,,, sure, he can sit in a chair while playing cello, with double bass he need's the chair to stand on.. too funny. Thank's di.

I also noticed that some of the violinists have something on the D and A strings.  Are they mute's?  Why?

A Little rubber mute. Twists over the strings so you can slide it over the bridge when you need it

I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....

I couldn't help but grab my Viola off the wall to play along. (Thanks to Fiddlerman's video tutorial on how to play Ode to Joy)

What a pleasure it is to be in the position to be able to do so, courtesy of this site, and the folks who post links to beautiful and moving videos, such as this.

Thanks for making my day.

Well when you play in an orchestra the part sometimes calls for "con sordini" which not only makes the string section more quiet but also has a special effect.
