I often see things on eBay where I just shake my head.  Of what purpose would an abbreviated violin bow serve, except perhaps for a salesman sample?

The combination of silver wire and leather is bizarre - it would have been better if it was all leather.

All the more surprising is that they are not cheap.  About $60 each.  I thought that there might be some electronic instrument that used them.
