Boy, let's see.....  The case I use to go to and from rehearsals has a little attached blanket to protect my violin from the bows, but I also use a silk bag (which I made from an old scarf.)

When I'm home and it's not in its case, I just started using a folding metal violin stand so I can keep it out and handy for practicing but safe from being knocked over by swishing dog tails. :)

Okay. The reason I asked is that I have this Crazy Idea and want to run it past y'all. I have lots of silk fabric scraps in The Stash and wanted to have a blanket of some sort in my case, so I noodled around and came up with this, which my sometimes strange mind wants to call a Fiddle Cozy -

The shiny fabric is a silk damask, nice and thick with black stretchy fabric on the back to keep it in place while in the case -

My shoulder rest can be left on if it's just sitting out waiting to be played -

And it can even stay on while on the String Swing - to keep the dust of dontchaknow -

What say you? Is this something you would consider for yourself? If so, what features would you like to see?

Great idea. I would definitely. Maybe it would be cool to find fabric with a big violin on it. IOW, it would still look like a violin when covered. dunno
