Ok KFC,, i'm not sure what the initials represent, so for now i'll just refer to you as "Kentucky Fried", how's that ?
I have read your prior posts and what Ryan stated in his post about you being negative to just about everything on this website, I totally agree.
I had no idea there was a collection being taken for a giveaway gift/violin to a person who i'm thinking the parents couldn't afford to buy one for her, or I would have gladly donated to the fund.
Not sure why you mentioned "Dragon Lady", in your post. Apparently they could afford to purchase a violin for "Fiddlin Soldier", or they wouldn't have. If there was something wrong with it, they could have sent it back for a refund or another violin.
By you making the statements you did, you can be hurting someone's feelings, letting them think whether or not they deserved it. I know when I read about the violin going to Huey and seeing her excitement via her post returns, I had a tear in my eye for being happy that there are people who will generously give to a good cause.
Now then,,, as for your "violinmaster.com" site, I checked it out and I didn't see anything about getting anything for free. They will gladly accept "Pay Pal". I searched the site and nowhere to be found was a Forum or a Chat box where you can converse with other players about, whatever and chat with the owner of the site, FM.
I typed in the Search box.... Free violin lessons, I did find a studio not far from my home, in Clarkston, Michigan USA and I called them. I asked if they gave free violin lessons, his reply to me was, "the first lesson is free to see if you want to continue, then the rest you pay $$$$ for. I never found any online tutorials like Fiddlerman.com.
It's certainly your choice whether or not you want to participate in this site. If you choose to continue, my advise to you is to "lighten up" and get rid of the nagatives. Practice your violin lessons and enjoy the people here.
The End.

Hi fiddle4fun I didn't read your post yesterday and I'm sorry to disappoint you but this is not an antique violin with a history, it's a new generic student violinhttp://www.zozomusic.com/music.....5p1086.htm

Fiddlerman actually lived and worked in Malasya, he must have friends and people he knows there.
I never said it was an antique violin. I said that it had a history. Here is this violin's history based on FM's first post:
On the shoutbox I was discussing with some members about my neighbor who can't play the violin anymore because of a pinched nerve and being in wheelchair. His doctor says it is too dangerous for him to do so. His name is Dennis and he really wants the violin to go to someone who will appreciate it. After some discussion we came up with Huey, who was here everyday for the longest time until she got too busy with school and final exams. She is one of the people with a burning desire to learn to play the violin without actually having much of an opportunity to do so.
This story separates that instrument from all the others out there and makes it unique despite its chronological age and build type. A violin doesn't have to be built by a master builder in the 18th century to be special nor does it have to be owned by a virtuoso musician. It just has to have a story that people connect with and that story connected with this community (just like Chaparro's story connected with a different music community).

@KFC What makes you think my wife (DragonLady) is disappointed. We are happy with the violin. It doesn't bother me that the string and bow holder broke. Its a good lefty violin to learn on. I'm making use of the strings that came with it and will put new Red Label strings when I'm ready. Its all we can afford. Right now I can't practice because I have 2nd degree burn on my right hand.
Here's hoping you recover quickly so you can get back to the fiddling!

Understand yor feelings, FS! Was in the same boat in last September: 2nd degree burn of the left hand - all from the elbow to the wrist. (Hot coffee+uneven floor+=
). I had no choice and had to practice anyway
. Playing with bandage was... weird... I'm ROTF when remember how i tried to play in 5th position (though i didn't play in any position except 1st then but i was curious)
. But there is a good thing - 3 weeks and it heals almost without scars =) So i wish You to get well soon and return in array!

Hi fiddlestix, the site is http://www.violinmasterclass.com and there are great news, they're building a brand new site! Professor Sassmanshaus is a very respected pedagogue, and a gentleman also
all the material is still available here and on youtube also
http://www.violinmasterclass.c.....c_menu.php
Violinmasterclass is absolutely free.
Then there's also http://www.violinlab.com/ which is "almost free" (they charge only 40 dollars every half year)
and many more sites,
fiddlerman may be a good fiddler and teacher (perhaps) but I'm not with the person, you see,
bye and good luck

Hi Terry,
The links do work...
Professor Kurt Sassmanshaus a loser?
Terry, you are aggressive indeed. I saw that emoticon where you are giving me a punch on my face! There aren't any winners or losers in life, I think.
Don't be afraid of losing this website, that won't happen.
I'm sorry if I made you feel embarrassed. I recognize I made a mistake. I should have written a private e-mail to the site owner (fiddlerman) about how I felt about his site without involving other people. I just wanted other people to beware.
I appreciate the freedom of expression. I feel it won't last much longer, though. Some of my replies have been deleted, by the way, but it's ok I don't mind at all.
Good luck Terry, take it easy. I don't actually know how you play the violin. I haven't heard you, and it's none of my business. Just as it is none of my business how you choose to spend your money. But it is my business to protect my money and warn other people as much as I can.
goodbye

@KFC You still haven't left? Your just enjoy being a troll. Why make a fuss over when the other members was so nice and on their own free will to donate a violin to Huey. You are not involved in this donation, so why bother with all this bs. By the way you praising me so much is plain creepy.

Thanks, KFC! Now we all are warned =)
If seriously, we all have internet and we are free to visit any site we want, we've seen other teachers and we can learn from anyone we want. But we like to be here. It's our choice and it won't depend of your opinion. But thank You for your care.

Hey guys, sorry I didn't say anything for like a week I think, and thank you for the congratulatory messages!!!I'm sorry I didn't read all of the posts because I didn't have enough time but it sure looks like something has happened(?) anyway I want to thank FM and those who donated and supported I am really really grateful and I sincerely hope that none of you get annoyed with me for saying "thank you" again and again because I really can't thank you all enough I came here to tell you all about my progress and post a picture of the violin ^^ and thanks Terry for the shoulder rest! It is really helpful!! And as for my progress, I can play Ode to Joy now. Not very smooth yet but I'll practice
and when I deemed myself smooth enough, I'll try to post a video of me playing it but I'm not very sure if my fingerings are correct though....hehe anyway that's all for now. I'll try to post my progress every week if possible and once again Thank You!!!
