In case you just dont want to bother with a video, most phones have a simple memo pad type built in app that will take audio recordings. Ive found this app to be handy in addition to that
but there are several on google play that would work too.

The voice recorder on my phone records quieter than my video setting for some reason. So if I don’t want in the video, I will aim the camera at something else while I record my sound. So if other people have that same issue (I always have older iPhones, hopefully get into the modern world soon, lol) they can give that a try.

Ive done that too! lots of videos of the celing 🤣 its probably the easiest thing.
One possible advantage to this voice only app is you can control the mic gain in it.. or maybe its just doing some type of software volume conversion. idk.. seems to work correctly.
Im not saying its better or anyone should use it.. just pointing out options. i do both, but like that the voice recorder has all the previous files listed in one place and theyre audio only.. and can use it without turning on camera.
