Found some great French-Canadian Fiddle music and info (some new to me).
I like everything in this program (good info, too), but have to say I'm crazy about the most Irish-sounding tune!
Patrick Ross and Jean Theroux - "Jefferson & Liberty" by Thomas Jefferson(?) - starts at 45:30.
Here's my favorite French-Canadian Band!
"Vishtèn: Acadian Music from Prince Edward Island"

I could've sworn I recorded myself several years ago, playing Duo Bottasso's version of 'The Rose of Raby Incantata' (p#18)... nope! Thinking back, I was never happy with the improv at the end, but I remember wanting to start a Mazurka Party (then figured it wouldn't generate any interested).
Came across it again today & it just sounds soooo much better lower than the settings on The Session, so thought I'd encourage violists & 5-string fiddlers to try a lower version in Alto Clef, or an octave down in Amin for playing along with Duo Bottasso (basic tune settings without the 'incantata' part).
So, YES - I now have clefs figured out for ABC notation!

Thanks, but I just received a warning - asking me not to submit non-Irish tunes (on The Session)!
Geez, I only added settings to what was already there - and even though Blowzabella isn't an Irish band, there's like 6 or 7 of their albums listed & their other tunes, too. 😒
Come to think of it, the other settings I submitted are not Irish, probably considered Scottish (AND also tunes already existing there)... so I give up.

sry..😔 didnt even cross my mind that THAT would happen. I suppose theres reasons and gotta respect that. But dont let it discourage you, especially on continuing the ABC stuff. i think youre gonna be a dynamo of tune transcriptions because of the varity you watch. Youll be good at it so stay engaged! shrug it and keep on going.
EDIT
Im wasnt familiar with the tune but see its quebecois.. i think maybe what they may want at the session is for people to keep it irish. if they dont ...say, have a line... then people may start using the site to post jazz or rock or whatever. quebecois or even cape breton type stuff maybe a grey area theyll allow with a warning but not an outright deletion since its a close cousin. idk... speculating. i never even created an account there. i subcribed on patreon just to supoort for a while since i used so much.

Thanks for the support!
THAT tune has been there on The Session for EIGHTEEN YEARS! 🫤
Dave Shepherd is from Yorkshire, ended up in London, played for Morris & Country Dancing , before picking up European styles, then joined Blowzabella. There's not really any difference between this tune, his other tunes, and all the Blowzabella tunes on The Session.
Not sure where Blowszabella belongs - they're an English Folk Band, but obviously some French influence. There's a big fan base for Andy Cutting on The Session, even though he also plays English/French music with the band.
I'd rather believe I got an automated msg that gets sent to everyone... idk.
Oh well, it's not like I'm trying to hide it... ITM is becoming a smaller & smaller part of what I'm interested in. I should probably just not get involved anymore - still, learned a lot I'll continue to use.
...done ranting, feel better. 🥱 I'm outta here!
(edit)
I only submitted it because I've seen violists request it some times, guess that means cellos can't play anything - unless waaaaaay up high on their A string. (kidding)

So, even though my Alto Clef ABC submission on The Session got changed to Treble (it was still playable on Violin), this link is still good for transcriptions.
The Rose of Raby (The Session)
The notation is basic, NOT hard - doesn't include any of the 'Incantata' stuff Duo Botasso plays, so give it a try!
I'll post about how to make a Clef Change in the ABC Thread.
