I am looking to dabble in learning Cello strictly for my own enjoyment not to perform. I was hoping to get some suggestions on what electric Cello to get? I can not afford the Yamahas and NS Designs yet so looking for a decent sub $1000 cello, I think the Celicios on Amazon are not good enough quality.

Let time fly I am having fun.

Depends on what you want to spend and what is good enough. I am not sure what you mean by, "not good enough".

Fiddlershop has some electric cellos.

https://fiddlershop.com/collec.....ric-cellos

I hesitate to say this because of the general idea that all of this brand are bad, I have a  backwards "S" shaped Cecilio. I bought it a few years ago because I had knee issues at the time and the cut out to make the backward "S" relieved pressure on the knee. I like this cello.

If you are beginning, however, I would dodge the crazy shapes. You need that cello shape to balance between the knees. I had stopped playing my electric cello for a while after my knee was better, but I have started going back to it once in a while, and had to relearn how to balance it because it does not have the cello shape. It is very easy to play after I get the balancing act figured out, and sounds nice plugged in or not.

Maybe do a search on the internet and see if there are video examples of the ones in your price range.

Are you basing the statement on Cecilio electric cellos being bad from experience or here say? If you aren't willing to pay more than what the Cecilio costs, not sure what you can find. Read reviews carefully.

Probably not much help, except the part about paying attention to the non-cello shaped ones, but that is the best I have to offer. Good luck with your search. Let us know what you find, purchase and your thoughts, for future cellists looking for an electric one.

Nice to see you back on the forum! 😁

DEAB5E04-D681-450F-A276-4F5918125C7A.jpegImage EnlargerLord help me I did it….

Someone on Reddit Cello mentioned trying for a monthly payment plan. This pushed me to try for 12 month financed loan and it was approved. For $1,387.26 at $115.61 a month starting on September 15th. And 27.9% interest. I will just add one extra day of 4 hours delivering food a week and I can pay that easily. I can make a few months of payments until tax check comes in then pay it off early thus saving interest. If I do not like the cello it should re-sell easy enough.. now where did I put my amp cables?
Order summary
Suzuki Cello School Method Book, Volume 1 × 1 Book & CD $19.99
Essential Elements for Strings, Cello Book 1 × 1 $9.99 almost bought all 8 they offered.
D'Addario Kaplan Artcraft Rosin - Dark × 1 $6.39
Fiddlerman Carbon Fiber Weave Cello Bow × 1 Black $83.12
B-stock NS Design WAV 4-string Electric Cello - Transparent Red × 1 $1,079.00
Subtotal
$1,198.49
Shipping

Hope I like this journey. The Cello was marked down for a cosmetic flaw I think.

Let time fly I am having fun.
