Sylvius Leopold Weiss was a contemporary of J.S. Bach and a prolific Baroque composer, but for the lute.
"Anyone who knows how difficult it is to play harmonic modulations and good counterpoint on the lute will be surprised and full of disbelief to hear from eyewitnesses that Weiss, the great lutenist, challenged J.S. Bach, the great harpsichordist and organist, at playing fantasies and fugues." (Wikipedia)
Six of his Suites have been transcribed for violin, including 2 in minor keys!
Not only are there pdf's of these, but also midi files (piano)! So, I was able to find movements in some of the Suites I really like - that I might've overlooked (I can't hear what notation sounds like just by reading it).
These scores, plus more info in the discussion at violinist.com.
The Suite in F minor is exceptionally lovely!
I'm looking forward to learning some of these movements - check them out if you enjoy Baroque.
