Yes! Look it up on Youtube by the Black and Tan String Band. They do a wonderful version of it too. My boyfriend and his son made me a beautiful version of it because I was trying to learn it by ear.
Opportunity is often missed because it wears suspenders and looks like hard work.

Nice piece of music, I like it.
I sometimes will drop it down into "Sawmill tuning" (GDgd) for some songs. But most of the time I stick with "OIT" (Old Italian Tuning aka "standard" GDae). I'm kinda leery of alternate tunings where I have to tune up above standard..

It is a lovely tune @Schaick
I've been listening to this version for quite some time.
index=12&list=LL6_vso21HjPXXsz0UbAR3Xg
However I only just tried learning it because I was always too scared to do the Cross Tuning, I believe Mark O'Connor has his tuned to EEBE in this version as opposed to the DDAD which I believe is the usual tuning for this song...??
I've only tried the cross tuning once and thought it was pretty successful, it was quite different trying to learn by ear with the cross tuning but it didn't take me too long to work it out.
I haven't done it since for 2 reasons, one being I haven't been playing violin due to a minor finger injury, but also it's a bit annoying having to re-tune the violin. I guess it'd be helpful to have two violins...
Anyhoo that's my two cents worth.
Good luck with it all!

Thanks for the links all!!
@coolpinkone that would be wonderful!!
@Kiara hope your finger recovers quickly. I have gone some 18 months without missing one single day of practice, even if it is just 15 minutes. hmmm.... re-tuning the violin - I am thinking I need another fiddle!!
@kylesito This is the easier version I am learning at present.

@kylesito ~~ I think the letters above the notes represent chord names ~~ If you had someone playing along on guitar (or other instrument) they would use those chords. Someone pipe in if I'm wrong ~~ and yes! thanks @schaik for the sheet.
