Talk about two different takes on the same song,

Not sure which one I like best.

@ABitRusty -

I like the Foghorn String Band, but thought that poor girl was going to get her eye poked out!

Hands down, loved the 2nd version by Tyler Childers! 😎

...nice to be reminded we can play a tune in different styles.

"..but thought that poor girl was going to get her eye poked out!"

Im glad someone else saw that!   When i first watched i kept waiting for her to back up.  At this point just think it was the camera angle.

When I watched The Tyler version it got me wondering if the main melody wasnt inspired by ruebens and is why it was included or if it was an after thought.   like one of them said...hey that sounds like reubens train.

yeah same here.  The fiddle and singing in the string band version but the groove with full band in the second maybe.

Now that I'm not tired, I listened again.

I still really like how Childers modified "Reuben's Train" to fit his "House Fire" style & love the fiddle improv at 7:19.  I had to separately compare the OMV of "House Fire" (love it) to the Foghorn's "Reuben's Train" - to get a little better understanding.

🤔... feeling the urge to revisit a little Lynyrd Skynyrd.

"...revisit a little Lynyrd Skynyrd."

or Merle, Waylon, and Willie.

also...Sturgil Simpson, Brent Cobb, Reckless Kelley, Chris Knight, Whiskey Myers, Turnpike Troubodors others like that seem to be played alot on the pandora channel with his name.  check them out if you liked Childers and arent familiar with them.

I actually like Childers much more than Merle, Waylon, or Willie - edgier maybe (?) but I'll have to take a peek at the others.

Thanx!
