Hi All

This is played on my first violin. Its an eBay $47.50 Special.

Its definitely not as good as my Ragetti but I feel that its an acceptable fiddle and I have no plan to get rid of it any time soon.

The tune is 'Redeemed' and I've been playing for 11 months now hats_off

Seems like a great deal. Why would you get rid of it anyway?
Thanks for the tune :-)
Great job!!!

I bought a $29.99 violin online a few weeks ago.   It claimed a spruce top and maple back and sides.  It came with the nut too high and the bridge unmatched to the top.  Also the tailpiece peg was drilled about a half inch to the right of where it should have been.  There is painted purfling and the sound post was chipped.  With some filing, sanding, setting, and shaping with needle files, I have a very nice violin with a very tightly grained top.  I couldn't buy the case for that much, nor the wood for making one myself - and the violin plays nicely and received compliments.  Does money buy a good violin sound - I doubt it.  The only thing I imagine making a good violin sound is a good violinist.

I tried a few $20 violins at NAMM. I am just glad that we don't sell them. These instruments were hard for even me to get in tune.

The eBay $47.50 special is very easy to tune, and stays in tune. I reluctantly let my luthier look at it and he said that he was surprised as it was even set up well. He said that it's good to go.

I have put a set of Claratine strings on it. Other than that, nothing has been done. It's certainly not a 'mellow' sound, but at least it's 'bright' blink

I think I may have got lucky and got one from a good batch violin-student

You did get lucky. :-)
Not to say that there are not plenty of others just like it at that price.
