I definitely am not as confident on my cello as I am with my violin but I've only got a few months under my belt for this. I keep hitting this awful pitch on the A-string and for the life of me cannot figure out how to make it go away. You'll hear it throughout the video and for that, I do apologize. Like my violin, I have a handful of songs I can play including All The Pretty Little Horses, Poor Wayfarin' Stranger, All Through The Night, and most of the Suzuki book one for cello.

That was very good. A lot of students have that sound with the A string. I had that issue when Larsen strings were used for the A string. My cellos just don't like Larsen strings. Your A sounded better than my A did when it had Larsens for the A string. It will go away as your bowing improves, gets stronger and you gain confidence with the bowing and fingering. My cello instructor and I are working on cleaning up my act with the bowing. You actually sound pretty good. Your cello sounds nice.
That makes me feel much better, I also saw a tip elsewhere to rosin my bow more and that seemed to help a little bit as well. I'm trying to decide on which A string to get to replace this one now.

Thank you for sharing this! I really like to see how other adult cellostudents are doing. This was really great, sound so good!
I also had problems with A string first, but now I’m more used to it and I have found ways to use my bow so that it’s not sounding so awfull anymore.
I have Larsen Crown strings. The others are nice, but A.... I would like to try something else. My daughter has Larsen Original strings on her cello and I think they sounds better.
Maybe I should also post some video. I have practiced La Cinquantaine from suzuki book 3, and it’s quite ok now. I’m trying to get some courage to make a video...

You should definitely post a video, I would love to see it! Thank you for your kind feedback, I’m more self conscious about my cello right now because it’s newer than my violin is.
