Well, when I registered my account on this forum I told myself that i would not post a video here. But I think it could be good for me to get some feedback. The tune I play is called "Seterjentenes søndag" or "The herdgirl's sunday" in english.

This is the first time anyone that plays the violin has been able to hear and see me, so i appreciate every little tips you guys can give me. :)

Video doesn't seem to play on the forum but the audio is there. I pulled the WMV file down and the Vid\Aud were both there. > Very nice for 7 months. I would like to be able to critique but I am really not of that caliber yet. There are others here that will give you some suggestions. The vid I put out was well critiqued by the others here. They pointed out a lot of things I needed to work on > I am happy I threw myself out there cause it has changed the way I am attempting to play this instrument already. Nice to have you around to share your passion and progression > You are sounding good > very smooth.

The video plays fine for me, although it's a tiny window with large black borders.

This sounded very nice to me!   Well done!   I wish I had some pointers for you but I, like StoneDog, am simply not at a level to do so.

You played that great! Yes guitar vibrato (bending the strings sideways or up/down vertically) is cheating! ha ha, Fiddlerman has great videos  which show the right way to do that.

In general Identify what you dont like about what you just did, isolate that and work on improveing it. Then you will have answered your own questions. I think what you are doing is great.

Stonedog: How did you upload your video? I wanted my video to be like that, but I don't know what I did wrong?

I watched your video and read the comments. It's actually what made me think that it was a good idea to upload a video. Thank you for your positive comments. They help a lot:)

Xenabi: I dont' know how it turned out that way, but i'll ask the others what they did. It is great that you think it sounded nice:) It makes me want to practice more.

I feel just like both of you:) I wish i could help people out with my experience, but I have not earned it yet:)

Very nice, Frequenzy! I don't have anything specific to critique. It sounded just fine to me.

Regarding posting videos, it usually works best to post the video to YouTube, then post the link here. It will automatically show a preview window and folks can click on it to play it.

If you don't want your video to be accessible to the entire YouTube world, you can mark it "unlisted" and only people with the link (in this case that would be us forum members) can view it. Don't mark it "private," though or no one will be able to see it.

BTW, do you play that lute that's hanging on the wall behind you?

Pfish: Thanks:) I suspected I was taking the easy soulution with the guitarvibrato. But it is SO hard to learn armvibrato. I'm all over Fiddlermans videos on that subject, but my arm hurts after very short time. I bet it is because i'm not used to move my arm like that. I will try to look at my video again. That is a good tip:) This is the first time i filmed myself playing, but it is a bit easyer to se your own mistakes on a video.

Fiddlerman and Fiddlestix:  Thank you! It is good to know i'm moving in the right direction.

KindaScratchy: I feared that it had something to do with youtube. I am not ready to go public:) But to mark the video unlisted seems like a good option:)

I don't play the lute:) The lute is made by my wife's grandfather, and it is in pretty bad shape. I want to fix it to make it playable, but that costs money:)

Thank you for replying on my video:)

I started a thread in the Learning the Violin section on my vibrato journey. Its hard but not impossible. I currently am not able to make the leap from slow "vibrato" to that nice fast vibrato. I have felt where arthritis comes from though! Joint movement of your joints is definately in play. Keep at it, supposedly it will come.

It's a public forum though, isn't it?

Yes, that's true, this is a public forum, but chances are that anyone who views a video here is interested in learning the violin and will provide constructive feedback. When you post a video on YouTube and make it public, it will be searchable for everyone and you'll be subject to all the idiots that post caustic and childish comments. That's why I make all of mine unlisted. I want to hear comments from you folks but I'm not interested in hearing from people outside of this site who only want to be nasty.

I second Diane's thoughts about posting the video. If you choose unlisted, chances are that next to noone besides the ones who have the address and are interested will ever see it.

Xenabi, I cannot view it - sigh.  Oh I wish I could.  But thanks so much because now I too know how to post a video on this site.  Now, if I can find a recorder, I'll be set.

Would you consider posting your video on Youtube and reposting it here so we can see it?

Thanks!
