Hey, Toni--that wasn't so bad! You're getting there, for sure. Intonation in particular was very good. Just keep working at it. Maybe break it down into smaller parts, work on them separately, then it won't be so hard putting them all together later. Don't give up, keep at it, it's coming!

Very good, Toni, well going.

Everyone starts somewhere though. You're on your way to be a good player.

Keep up the good work, Toni.

It will get better and better.

No need to be ashamed of it.  The intonation is very respectable, mostly very good.  You have some halts or ups and downs in the tempo, of course.  Even out the tempo and you will have something there, even if you are playing slower than most folks do.  I play it slow myself until I can give attention to faster bowing.

I think it's fine, Toni and with a little more practice you'll nail it.

its one of my favorite tunes to play and Im far from perfect on it. listen to that video of it I posted (not the one with me playing) over and over again.  dance to it, sing along (doooo do DO DO do do DO DO)  and embed it in your DNA. You know the notes, ditch the sheet music and practice feeling it.

Playing it up to speed will take some time, but you'll get there

Thank you Barry.   I think that is a great idea.   I think it is meant to be felt and get under your skin as you mentioned.   It is a new song for me and I hope to get really good on it . Thank you for your help.

Robert you inspired me to give this a go.  Thank you very much.

Ken, thank you so much.   I will keep steady practice on it .... Work it like crazy.

Steve, thank you for your help and support.  I need to break it down. Good idea.

RosinedUp.. Thank you ... I hear and feel the pauses also.   Like Barry said I need to get it in my DNA and really work it.

I needed to see if I was even in the right direction.  Thanks

@coolpinkone Keep up the good work. You'll get there. I got decent at the song and now I'm throwing in double stops, now I feel like I'm relearning the whole thing lol.

@Barry What is the beginning? Can you give me the few notes that the are played at the beginning of that video before the song starts?

@Barry Thanks. I'll give 'er a shot with that intro. I've been throwing in double stops every time you are supposed to play a B I play EB. It's giving the song some kick to it, I like it. I've been doing the same thing with The Butterfly and it makes the song sound so awesome, at least to me. But I'm easily impressed when it comes to music. serenade

Nothing ventured nothing gained right :-)

You really don't have anything to be ashamed of at all Toni. I'm impressed that you are tackling so many new tunes actually.

Keep up the motivation and hard work. :-)

Hman thank you for your encouragement.  I had a few good sessions with Swallowtail tonight.

and @Fiddlerman (Pierre) thank  you.

Swallowtail is fun..and it is getting better all the time.  The site  has been busy with a lot of posts and playing samples so it is fun to take part.

Hey, Toni, that was very fine! heartDon't know why You're ashamed of it, LOL! IT'S NOT SHI... XD We are here not to judge You but to help!

I was inspired by Diane and her thread to learn it too. Working on it also now (and on Jacky Tar either he-e-he-e). So we're in the same boat here. I recognize in your playing some of my mistakes:

1) Remember that people should be able to dance along with that tune. Learn it in a slow tempo and the metronome could be very helpful =) Or You could tap the foot if that's OK.

2) Also there's a feeling that You're somehow afraid of your bow. MOVE it, give it a little more preassure... Your sound will be more confident! You're a talented person, and i think that You're ready by now for work with your sound. Try different preassures and speed (i mean speed of the bow strokes) to find the sound You are comfortable with.

You're doing nice, don't be shy! Keep it up!thumbs-upcheerleadercheerleadercheerleader

Thanks John!!!

Naska.  Thank you I am going to try your advice with the bow.  I notice I was bowing lighter than normal also.

So I will attack that bow.  Hopefully Friday I will post a week 4 update.... Then sooner or later something to the STJ party.

Would love to see your progress also Naska.

Thanks again.

Oh! I'd love to record it, but every time i take the violin i have barely time to do the work i SHOULD do and rare what i LIKE to do. I'd be very happy to give you guys a reason to tell me everything you want about my playing - as i usually do about yours, hahahahaha!roflrofl

And i also remember that i've promised to Robyn to play Boccherini's minuetto LOL, but it's far away from listenable condition right now....

So, i'll post something... somewhen... Meanwhile have fun there, you, happy people =)
