Katie, do you have a teacher?
I would like you to listen to many different recordings of this piece before getting into specifics. Vivaldi is from the Baroque period which is important to keep in mind.
I prefer to deal with one issue at a time so as not to overwhelm the student and I would like you to concentrate on rhythm for now. The long notes need to be long enough in relation to your tempo. If you want to play this tempo then you should work up the speed of the 16th notes so that you don't have to slow down when you get to that part. You'll notice most of this stuff after listening to some good recordings. :-)

Great start. Thanks for posting. Love to watch you play.

@ Fiddlerman yes she a teacher at school that gives her a 20 minute lesson on a friday

so far she has had 18 lessons which 10 of it was  part introductory included which works out to be about 6 hrs in total, from April to present when she first held  a violin, she had her school report from the music service saying that she was naturally talented on the violin  (just going to put it mildly on here but it was a lot more than that they wrote)  she taught herself to read music and play the recorder about a month before she began learning the violin, most of the stuff she knows is what she has learned of your website I don't think she understands much but seems to work out some of it I did not think she was any good until I chatted with u and a few others a while back so now I try to give her support in what she seem to like . The teacher has told us a few things we should look into for her but I am leaving it a bit see if she is gonna keep, cause she is only 8 not sure if she knows what she wants to do yet lol but for now she seems to like it.

Also I let her read your post and she has started following exactly what you said lol so she is working on her slow bits and listening a bit more and singing too  lmao she  told me to tell you that and she would make another video when she thinks its a bit better.afroviolin_girlThank you once again Fiddlerman

Slow it down and feel those sad notes.  You are doing wonderful but don't try to rush things. You are making a minor sound, sound like you are rushing a major scale off key. Think about that little turtle you had as a pet but he turned up side down on his back and now he's gone forever and how that sadness feels.
