I found this interesting video on making varnish. If you try it I would suggest leaving the varnish sit in the alcohol and not heating it. It will take longer but it it's a lot safer.

I watched the video before when I was doing research on varnish but didn't think of posting it. Any way, it seems so easy to make that "1704" varnish as long as you have all the ingredients!

Thank you Kevin for posting it, now that I watched it again, almost want to try make it. I noticed that he simply add his newly made varnish to his old varnish.

Seedlac is the varnish or shellac.
